Low platelets

Platelets are checked in the usual pregnancy blood tests. I’d speak to your midwife about it to see if she’s concerned at all, but not really sure if there’s anything you can specifically do. Midwife should be able to advise more on what it means for delivery options etc.

I've had exactly the same in my pregnancy (and in my first one). The only concern is if they go below 80 you won't be able to have an epidural. Unfortunately there's nothing you can do to increase them but speak to your midwife about it definitely. I've been referred back and forth to the consultant about it but luckily mine have gone back up to 120 (I'm 39+4 at the moment)

They refer you to the risk management team if they go below a certain point. Mine were low at the start but they’ve not mentioned them since

I have weekly blood tests to monitor, yes. I’m so near the end of my pregnancy and I NEED an epidural (this isn’t my first rodeo and I cannot do it again without!!) 🙈 if they go below 100 they get concerned.

I have my section on Thurs. Final blood test tomorrow to check, last time they'd dropped from 136 to 114, so hoping they aren't much lower 🤞🏼 risk of general anesthetic if they are below 90 I think consultant said last time.
