is it normal for a 21 month old to scream all day no matter what you do?

he’s throwing stuff around the room as i type and he’ll start pulling his hair sometimes, and hitting or scratching or pinching me

Has he been tested for autism?

Avatar

Yes mama🤱🏽😩♾️🌟🙏🏽 im dealing with the SAME THING😇🌹♾️

I don't think your comment is helpful. It's completely normal behaviour at this age, no need to automatically assume that any undesirable behaviour is an issue and cause unnecessary worry.

very normal! I questioned it too when my boy started with it. Good days and bad days but I was given great advice to remember that it's a phase they will get past xx

I didn't “assume”. I simply asked a question. That is one of the symptoms and if u look around autism is VERY common nowadays. Have a love day🥰

Wow I’m honestly in surprise with how many moms have this issue with their LO 😳

Very normal!!! My nephew is 3 and he always screamed cry since he was a baby as he got to around 1 1/2 2 it got so worse to the point we thought something was seriously wrong but he’s now 3 he still does it but no where near as much as he did it then what I do with my son when he does things like this is I pick him up place him in a safe place his room where ever it may be and I tell him u need to take 5 min for your self mommy’s gonna take 5 min for my self after a few min I’ll go get him out and I tell him he’s not being nice he normal give me a hug then he’ll walk away to play and he’s 1 1/2

no they don’t test till they’re a certain age

i’ll have to try this, just worried he’ll hurt himself if i leave him alone mid tantrum, he likes to throw big toys😩 i’ve taken the side off his cot now so can’t even keep him in there with some toys while i have a breather

Avatar

my 1 1/2 year old is in a toddler bed n I get worried to sometimes because he loves to throw things or try n push his bed but honestly there a lot smarter then we think they’ll throw things for maybe the first 2 min but then get them selfs relaxed and distracted because when us mommy’s are getting stressed over there tantrums we are no help to them so I do 5 min for him and when he does his 5 I take 5 n relax for a min before getting him out again

How do you respond to his behavior?

It’s pretty important to try to stay calm for our babies when they’re going through a hard time. Obviously that’s not always possible, we all get distressed at the sound of crying, and I think its okay to leave them if you feel yourself too overwhelmed to manage, and they’re in a safe place to be by themselves, but I do also believe it’s important that our babies know that we are there, and we won’t leave (unless necessary) while they are experiencing a loss of control of their emotions. I personally want my child to be able to express what he’s feeling in front of me, not hold it in if he fears I will be angry or leave him to be alone.
When my son has big tantrums I try to stay as calm as possible, and sit down near him quietly, for as long as it takes for him to come to me and settle down. Babies/toddlers are pretty sensitive to their parents emotions, and sometimes tantrums can be amplified if we’re showing how stressed we are.

I noticed a couple of months ago my son was extremely disregulated, and having many, many tantrums a day. At that point I was having to go into work 3 days a week with him, and it was out of routine, and I was very stressed about the whole situation. Now I’m back working from home, and my own stress levels are down, he’s sooo much more regulated with his emotions. I do believe our children can sense how we are feeling and it can have a huge impact on them.
That being said, this is my son’s experience, and I don’t know yours but I hope my advice can help in some way!

i either try to cuddle him, which he pushes me away, or i tell him calm down, which he doesn’t or i leave him to it which i’ve read helps them self regulate and realise i’m not gonna coddle him all the time and that he can’t get what he wants by screaming at me.

thanks ladies, sorry have only just seen the replies to this post. his tantrums are MUCH better, i figured out he was a little bit constipated and bored so i’ve started doing different activities with him and changed his diet slightly, which has helped

AITA

In the uk there is an outbreak of meningitis, in a specific area mainly. My BD has family from that area and decided to go and meet up with them, I said if he does then he cannot have contact with the kids for 7-10 days after incase he picks anything up. Am I being over dramatic? I reallyyy don’t want my young kids getting anything serious

Baby clothes

Just out of curiosity, why do parents love zipper onesies?

Don’t get me wrong, I tried zipper ones it’s easy to zip in and out when putting it on the first time and taking it out, but I find it difficult when changing diapers especially when baby is asleep.

I prefer those kimono style buttons where it’s easy to button or too down button with crotch snaps.

Is everyone thinking the same or different? Lol

This might rattle some people

Ok, this might get a bit long, and a bit bumpy, so get comfy and buckle up.

So about a week or 2 ago, there was a post on here regarding sleepovers. Not letting their child go to them as you can't trust who'll be at the house etc.

Now, given recent incidents in nurseries and schools, plus my own experience back in the 90s, I am more concerned about sending my child to nursery and later school than I am to a friend's house for a sleep over.

The other day a man was jailed for abusing children at the nursery he worked at. A woman has been arrested for sleeping with an underage boy and then getting pregnant by a different underage boy while on bail for the first offence.

Young girls and boys get sexually harassed and bullied when at school, not all of them. But more than you think. And not just by other kids, but by adults who we as parents are trusting to look after our kids.

A sleepover, is a more controlled environment, with only a handful of people coming into contact with your child. A school, a club etc there can be 100s of people coming into contact with your child.

I was targeted at 7 years old by the owner of a prominent private school. Thankfully, I wasn't SA'd. In year 5 of primary school, I started to develop early, I was harassed by the boys and teachers made remarks about how my uniform didn't fit right, always "adjusting it" around my chest and legs.

Years 7-9 of secondary school were hell. But it was all under the guise of "we're just messing around". A teacher twanging my exposed bra strap (none uniform day) is not "messing around".

Boys pinning me down trying to rip open my shirt to see my breasts.

I fear for my daughter. I hope she takes after my father's family, flat chested.

We need to educate all our children, what is acceptable behaviour. And to come to us, as their parents should ANYTHING happen.

At this point I’m not enjoying motherhood

My 22 month old is horrendous at the moment🫣 biting, hitting, pushing, pulling and shoving not only adults but children he also wants what other children have and will just snatch it away from them.

We repeat ‘nice hands’ ‘be gentle’ ‘let’s share’ etc

But how do I make him understand what he’s doing isn’t very nice? At the end of the day I feel like I’ve just been saying his name all day and nothing else.

What can I do?

Dummy

My baby has had a dummy since about 2 weeks old (now 5 months) and over the course of the last month we weaned her off it during the day only for naps and night (which was fine) and then 5 days took it completely away during the day.

The first day no dummy was fine, the second bit rougher. But now it feels impossible she just moans and cries all the time it takes ages for her to go down to sleep (she’s always been an amazing sleeper)

I thought it was meant to get better as time went on not worse. I’m at my wits end I dunno what to do.

Currently typing this as she screams uncontrollably in the car and I cry with her cos I can’t do anything.
