Hi ladies, we always put our 2 week old down to sleep on his back but he will always turn his head to the left. He is obviously still flat on his back but I’m worried about SIDs or bad neck/posture if he always prefers to sleep this way. Has anyone experienced the same?

You should try change their head position to each side (alternating) when sleeping so they don’t get a flat head. I have a friend who has issues with this now as their little one preferenced sleeping on one side.

It’s normal for them to turn head side to side. If favouring one side see a baby oesteopath it could be a bit of tightness. They are well worth a visit anyway! We did for my daughter and it was fantastic x

It's normal for them to favor turning their head to one side because that's how their head was positioned in the womb. You can work on getting him comfortable with turning his head during tummy time by placing him on his back, holding one foot and one hand in each of your hands with his knees bent to his belly, then slowly turning him toward the direction he doesn't usually favor until his cheek hits the mat. Hope this helps and makes sense!

i agree with you hun. I did this with my daughter and kept an eye on which side she was on to change it for her next nap. It defo helps to keep their head a nice round shape and not flat at the back
