Sorry made me laugh when read dad will catch baby, just pictured this baby flying out during birth but wow it’s well thought out and love the vibe but please don’t be disheartened if it doesn’t work out the way you hoped and allow room for change depending on your baby and circumstances xx

ofc , i’m ready for change depending on what my body and the baby needs . My doula just said i should always prepare when you can .

I like ur plan it’s pretty! Helping me with mine haha. Not sure if this is different in the UK to US but I would say the reason I’ve been told baby is given a hat as soon as they r out is because they cannot regulate their temperature very well so it is advised to keep a hat on them to keep them warm. May be different for you as you may be able to control the room temp or ask to have the towel wrap on u and baby in. A way that keeps them warm enough but ik here in the Uk the labour room can either be freezing or boiling and unfortunately we can’t tell the difference coz we are boiling anyways from birthing 😭😂

no need for a hat on baby if they are skin to skin (as specified in this birth plan). Smelling your babies head is really important for bonding too!

If you're in need of a c-section mid labour you honestly won't want to listen or even pay attention to what they're saying
I say this because 18weeks ago I was rushed for a cat 1 emergency unfortunately under anaesthetic but by then I was in to much pain and to worried about my baby to listen
Although I did already know why they was doing it because I was on a monitor the whole time due to a small baby (more likely to stress during contractions) and her heart rate dropped dramatically a few times, a Dr come in and explained what was actually happening but my partner listened to all that even though he was stressed with the situation too

you don’t sound rude . thanks for sharing your experience. I am glad you made it through that safely!! My doula/midwife will be present to help advocate my birth plan decisions during birth . And my husband will be ready to be my support . He’s training for these stressful moments lol He’s super excited 😆 Ik things can change but I’m praying for a healthy delivery with no complications 🙏🏾

Admittedly things are very different here in the UK so hopefully it'll all go unaided for you ☺️
I should also add that is a brilliant birthplan! Mine wss literally a few things written on paper 🙈

Some other things that may be of interest- if exams are necessary do you want to know how many cm you are? Some women find for example ‘only 3cm’ to be really disheartening. Also do you want Dad to announce the gender?

My doula/midwife will check if necessary so i don’t have to deal with that stress of false hope about my labor progress . Also i already know the gender , I’m having a boy 🩵

i’m glad i could help 🥰 Ofc everyone has their opinions on the different things given to newborns but me and my husband thoroughly went through everything offered for our son and researched the pros and cons for everything based off our health history. That’s how we chose.

I’ve never seen one or knew they were a thing but my doula is working on one for me (now I actually see what she’s working on from seeing yours lol) this looks amazing! Gives me an idea of things to mention to her if she forgets to ask me about anything

What do you mean by a gentle c-section?

Also, they only sedate you if it's medically necessary. For example, emergency ceaser. I'm not sure you need that in your plan but I guess if you want to be safe.

Also, they won't allow you to have food or anything but water. As far as I know.

It's a precaution in case you need surgery.

Absolutely love this! Would love to know if you used a template, and if so, if you could send it me. I’ve been really struggling with putting an actual birth plan together, I just have bullet points in the notes on my phone so far🤦🏾‍♀️x

Ok so I spent ages on my birth plan and nobody looked at it on the day. Make sure you and your birth partner know what you want -- it will deviate and you need to fight for what you want. I did get the birth I wanted but my baby got stuck in the birth canal so I had to consent to vacuum but then that turned to forceps. Thankfully before any instruments were put near me, my baby freed herself and came out in one go. I had to have the epidural I didn't want after birth though as she came so quick and in one push I had a 3a tear!!
This isn't to make you feel disheartened in the slightest- you should be creating a plan and becoming as knowledgeable as possible. You should be creating an ideal birth in your head. Just know you will need to say this verbally and your birth partner will need to know it too. If it wasn't for my birth partner knowing my wishes, we wouldn't have had delayed cord clamping (19 minutes), wireless monitoring and a second shot in the pool. He memorised the hypnobirthing phrases and

Was so calm. But no midwife or doctor looked at the birth plan I spent so long on. It was upsetting as I'd spent weeks on a beautiful format but it meant we remembered exactly what we needed to. Don't listen to anyone who says it all goes out the window - ask the midwife WHY or if there is an alternative if they're pushing back. I got to labour in the pool until my baby went into distress as she was stuck. This was something unexpected but I came up with a "dry birth" plan in case there were no pools so we pushed to follow that plan until it was very much becoming an urgent situation! Well done on researching and spending all this time on it- it WILL pay off on the day

thanks for sharing your experience!! I’ve heard the doctor tries to bully you into what’s more convenient for them . That’s the main reason i got a doula/midwife to advocate for me and my husband so we can be stress free. I specifically made sure my doula was my midwife so i could go to her for my antenatal appointments and she was very knowledgeable on my body in preparation for my labor. In the event things change in the spare of the moment, i know she will make a decision that’s best for me and my baby boy 🥹🩵

it helps they’re blood clot but there is mixed opinions I would research ! Personally I’m passing on it . They eventually make vitamin k themselves days later and a lot go fine without. It has other ingredients in the shot so a lot pass on it and it is claimed to cause jaundice and there is also vitamin k drops that others prefer to use instead , but then again to each its own research ofc to choose what’s best for you ! You could also each a lot of vitamin k rich foods to avoid it as well before birth so that it’s already in theyre system !

@Anitra, just that they are allowing you to eat. That some hospitals allow it, and others don't in case you need surgery.
