FTM Mum - Hey guys so for the past couple of weeks my bump has changed shape. My whole bump has always been rock solid but now my lower belly has gone really soft and the top is still hard. Someone please tell me what this could be?

Baby will have just moved position. As long as they're still moving as normal I wouldn't worry at all.

Does this mean his still head down? 2 weeks ago he was so I guess I’m just worried his not anymore!.

Have you felt any big movements? Could be that baby may have turned breach xx

He does move a lot always has done! Is it possible for him to turn breech at 40 weeks?
I feel that his really low down still but I guess I dunno x

Hey my belly is the same, she is head down with he back coming across the left side/front and then her bum at the top. This makes the top of my tummy stick out and is really hard. Xx

Yesss! Maybe it’s quite common! How many weeks are you?

I’ve heard it’s because their head don’t take up as much room so naturally where their torso and limbs are will be harder I noticed this at 38 weeks the top half was like a rock and the bottom felt squishy

I was worried it was all fat🤣🤣 thanks girls x

Yeah mine has gone exactly the same! I’m 39+5 now and the very bottom of my belly has gone a bit jiggly instead of the usual rock solid, and top/middle is solid still. Baby is engaged so heads in the pelvis and bum up top :) your midwife will be able to check and feel where he is at your next appointment if you’re worried they’re breach!

Yes make sure to tell your midwife and keep an eye where the kicks are. Mine was breech all of a sudden and managed to turn her with ECV at 40 weeks x

I deffo feel kicks up in my stomach so I’m assuming his deffo head down!

sounds about right! My kicks were at the pelvis which is what made me question the midwife x

when did your baby turn breech? Is it possible for baby to turn now as I’m 40 weeks

honestly no one flagged her being breech in my appts. That’s why I’m saying keep an eye on where she kicks. So I’m not sure exactly when she turned but at 39 weeks I felt the kicks below and I flagged it at my 40 weeks appt but managed to get her turned.. xx

oh wow! Glad she turned for you though🩷

can be very difficult for them to turn at such a late gestation but definitely still a possibility. Have you got a midwive appointment soon? Check with them xx
