I got a membrane sweep last Wednesday when I hit 37 weeks because I’ve been 2 cm dilated for weeks already and I was already 3 cm and 70% effaced. I’m now 4 cm and 90% effaced and having contractions every 3-4 minutes for the past two days so I’ve been in and out of the hospital. I’ve been getting no sleep because of it and this is some of the most excruciating pain I’ve had in my entire life. It’s in my hips, back, legs, and stomach and somehow I’m still not dilating any more so they monitor me and then send me home. Every time they say “Oh you’re going to come back in a couple hours and be in labor”, so I leave and the pain gets worse so I’ll go back in and no change! She’s been heads down and dropped for 2 months already and now she’s so low that I have a “bulging sac” but they can’t do anything to help me because their policy is 39 weeks. I’ve been laying in bed crying, sweating, and shaking for the past 5 hours after I got out of the hospital at 5:30 and let me tell you- I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.

Oh sweetie I’m so sorry.

I am so sorry to hear you are in so much pain. All I can say is, in the end it will all be so worth it. You are going through so much now only to have a beautiful baby in your arms so so so soon. You are so brave. You’ve got this mama.

Ugh, this happened to me with my first daughter. I never got a membrane sweep again with my others because of how excruciating it is. Just stuck in labor for days. The best advice I have is to TRY when you can to walk. I went to the hospital 4 times and on my last time I told them “You can discharge me, but I’m just going to keep checking back in.” They told me to walk for an hour around the hospital so I did…and then went back and thankfully had progressed and was able to be admitted and was induced.
I really am so so sorry. I don’t think they should let people get membrane sweeps unless they explain this to patients. It’s awful and cruel.

I am so sorry hope you will have your baby soon and all this pain will be gone 🙏🏼 I will be 38 weeks next Wednesday and my Dr. Said that she will do a membrane sweep and by reading all your comments I may refuse to have one

Walk on a treadmill for an hour, that’s what I did. I agree with Tara! Walking should do it! Praying for you! 🙏🏽

Can you take unisom or Benadryl to sleep?

what week did you have yours done ? Mine was the night before my due date and it worked and I delivered on my due date

it worked for me but mine was the night before my due date: the timing needs to be right just like it needs to be right for an induction

You should ask your dr maybe you can take some Tylenol and maybe do a heating pad or get into a nice warm bath and then if you can get moving around on either a yoga ball or do some yoga stretching or walking. Sounds like baby needs more space to descend down a bit more. Sorry you’re having such a tough time! Just remember it will be over soon and you’ll have your baby in your arms! Try some relaxation and meditation breathing. I really love the hypnobirthing tracks on YouTube from Bridget teyler and hypnobirthing with Anja. They really help me when I’m having a hard time with pain!

Update…had my daughter at 9:35 in the morning on Sunday! 6 pounds and so beautiful ❤️ only 30 minutes of pushing

Yay congrats!!!! 🎊🎉
