Hi ladies,
My 14 week old has been EBF since birth and wouldn’t take a pumped bottle until recently (the past week). He has only had two bottles in this time.
Coincidentally, I have been struggling to get him to feed the past couple of days - he has also been struggling with sleep so I think this might be linked. When I try to position him to feed, he starts crying and on the odd occasion I can get him into position, he latches for a few sucks and then pulls off crying. I think it might be due to gas as he sometimes will toot and then cry.
He has struggled with constipation due to antibiotics recently, and is on lactulose twice a day.
He has very reluctantly taken the bottle this morning but only 2 ounces. I’m getting really worried that he is not eating enough, although he has plenty of wet nappies.
I am at my wits end, really stressed about him not eating and devastated that he is rejecting my breast.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions 😞

I’m not sure what’s going on I wish I had an answer. My little 5 week old girl was screaming and fussing last night doing the same thing. My husband ended up picking her up and singing to her bouncing her. She stopped I think maybe growing pain?
I’m sorry mom and I know how it feels to have baby scream at breast like “this worked for so long to keep you calm and now you hate me” 😭 but I think it’s growing pains or gas. I was baffled last night with my girl and she couldn’t have been in that much pain if we could entertain her so I finally was able to sleep.

Hey I don't know if this is helpful but I iwas using breast pads for a while, they were scented I think because they smelt lightly similar to sanitary towels. Baby would not latch, I was struggling for a while until I realised maybe it is the pads smell. I wiped the breast with a water wipe and then he would latch quite happily. Maybe check you haven't got any overly scented products like a strong smelling body wash or perfume or pads like me. I just use the cheap maternity pads for post partum bleeding you can buy in bulk now, one in half covers each breast X they're quite padded and comfy and no scent x

Remember their eyesight is quite bad at the beginning so any other senses will be heightened and I imagine overwhelming sometimes x

Also chocolate works for constipation, whenever our little man hasn't had a poo in a while I get to have a little chocolate treat ❤️ it goes into the breast milk with a laxative effect

oh my gosh I didn’t know this! No wonder my girls poop so much! All I crave is chocolate 🍫
