Hi! I had an ultrasound at 21w+3days and it appeared everything was perfect, but then a second DR came in to retake some measurements and told us there was something not measuring right with baby’s heart. He mentioned the top cavities were measuring bigger then the bottom ones, but that he wasn’t able to get good measurements and is asking us to go back for a specialize cardiac ultrasound at 23 weeks. Has anyone experienced anything like this and do you have any tips/comments? Feeling very anxious.

Hi there! Im 25 weeks pregnant and have gone through the fetal echocardiogram scan + have had 2 growth scans so far with another planned for in a month. My daughter has been diagnosed with Tetrology of Fallot which is a complex heart defect that is treatable and after our echo we were referred to cardiology who explained everything to us. They unfortunately wont tell you much during or after the scan, as if anything is of real concern they will have more team members on board and you will likely have to meet with a cardiologist to get the actual information, which is super frustrating but can also be really helpful. Only thing i can say to help with anxiety is if you arent somebody who likes feeling unprepared (and feel like being blind to the possibilities is worse than knowing) do some digging on the common heart defects, youtube was a great resource for me in mentally preparing for what cardiology was going to tell me. And the even better news is that you wont have to have a full bladder for the echo!
