I have injections to do in the tops of my legs for 6 weeks. 4 weeks down, 2 to go x

I didn’t have either! If you score 1 or more on the risk score chart.. (can’t remember the actual name of it!) then you have injections. I didn’t realise there was a tablet alternative though!

I had to stop taking my usual blood thinning tablets when I got pregnant and was told I had to have injections for the duration and then once I’d had my daughter I was still having the injections alongside my usual blood thinners so I think everyone gets injections, but they don’t hurt at all! I did mine into my thighs and as long as you push the little thing in slowly it doesn’t hurt one bit! I found that if you push it in quickly it burns for ages afterwards x

I had injections for 6 weeks

I got it after my c section I remebrr them coming around the next morning and getting a needle. Didn't get it again after. I was discharged less then 24hrs later after giving birth

I had one injection and then tablets.

I had 7 days of injections, I was in hospital for 5 days though so they injected me, when we got home luckily my partner would do it for me for the other 2 days as there was no chance I was doing it 🫣

I had injection for 10 days after I went home but I was in hospital for 4 days prior. They showed my partner how to do it as I didn’t want too as I probably would of passed out😂xx

No injections at all, was delighted, was expecting to have them and dreading it. No tabs either

at my hospital, they reccomend taking an NSAID like aleve but only if you had to have any transfusions. otherwise no blood thinners!

I had them from 28 weeks pregnant until I was 6 weeks pp and it wasn't the best experience but I'm willing to do it all again if we should hav another one, I had to have them even though I didn't know I was going to have a c section because of Mt weight and I also have varicose veins they have a score chart in your notes for hemoglobin or something and if you score above 2 then you have to have them I think or something like that anyway, but I had fragmin and my god did it burn sometimes and leave awful lumps in my legs and bruised terrible no matter how slow I injected but I do also have lipodema so not sure if it had something to do with that also it made me itsch Terrible I injected some in my stomach and it made me itch that bad I broke skin when scratching but like I say totally worth it

I had injections for 14 days after c-section

Depends on the hospital policy and your risk factors.
At my hospital they were standard for 10 days after a c section. I enquired about other methods as before my c section I was pretty needle phobic and was convinced I wouldn't take them but I was told there wasn't an alternative option ie tablets.
They are not the nicest things but really are the best way to reduce your risk of clots/dvt and are preferable in my mind to potentially an extended hospital stay and many more needles if I were to get dvt/a clot.
My midwife called out at home a day or so after discharge and showed us how to do them. They are little "clicky" type injections... luckily my partner did mine from then on.
I would lay back on the sofa, lower my leggings, hold a pillow/ cushion and look away. We were given advice to inject a "meaty" area where you can pinch an inch... also to do them either side of tummy... low but not near the scar. A large area of your tummy will be numb for a good week so you won't feel them so much.

They sting for a couple of seconds but don't rub the area.
They can cause nasty looking bruising but this will fade.
Stay on top of pain relief... alternate paracetamol and ibuprofen religiously. Arnica for bruising and Take it easy.
