Hi all,
I'm pregnant due late this year and just wanted to ask about people more recent experiences with Chesterfield Royal maternity? Last time I didn't have the best experience... making me a bit anxious

I’m due in August with my first baby and I’ll be doing to chesterfield royal hospital too, so I would like to know experiences too x

Following!

I had my first baby this January at chesterfield royal and for me personally it was brilliant I couldn’t have asked for better xx

My little girl was born in October 2023. We had an extended stay before she was born, straight after and then when she was a week old we when back in for 3 weeks. I only have good things to say about the staff on trinity wards and the children’s nightingale ward x

I gave birth 11 days ago at Chesterfield and had a really good experience with the staff and care that I received. It wasn't a straight-forward labour, but I was well looked after during my time in the birth centre and in trinity ward afterwards. Really glad that I chose them as my hospital.
Thanks all - glad to hear mostly positive! ❤️

I had a planned c-section in November. I have nothing bad to say about the treatment and care that we received 🥰

I had my lad September just gone and nurses were great helped diagnose my son with jaundice nice and early which meant he got treatment really quickly and helped him stay nice and healthy now

I’m 3 weeks PP
Had my little girl at chesterfield royal via emergency c-section.
Went in to be induced, waters broke naturally 9 hours later, spent entire night dilating, when it came to pushing, they couldn’t understand why I was in agony, they didn’t realise my epidural had come out, they didn’t know my baby was facing the wrong way inside and after and hour and a half of pushing and getting nowhere, dr came in did an examination after 2 other midwife’s did there examinations and failed to figure out my baby was facing the wrong way. They took me down to theatre in hopes to turn her round but she had moved back up the birth canal and then they opted for c-section.
Had a very rude anaesthetist telling me there’s no need to shout, when I was having a contraction with no pain relief because my epidural had come out and they took the gas and air off me whilst the other anaesthetist did the spinal.
But not everyone’s experience with chesterfield royal is negative.

Don’t want to scare you but just my experience with the royal wasn’t a positive one.
But on the positive side the midwives and nurses on trinity ward after couldn’t have done any more for me, very responsive and made sure I was comfortable and helped when needed

I had my baby in Chesterfield in January. The experience was exceptionally positive from the midwifery, anesthesiologists, doctors, and all the way up to discharge. I'm a plus size woman so I was terrified. The only negative experience was when I asked my midwife if I could have a waterbirth and she said no, speak to a doctor. Thankfully the doctor said he saw no reason and put it on my notes. I've moved to Doncaster but I will be travelling to Chesterfield for any future pregnancies

Amazing, couldn’t fault them

yeah I second this. Not exactly a positive experience but can’t fault the after care at all i felt very comfortable and they were very attentive and vigilant on trinity. 🙂
When I say it wasn’t a positive experience it wasn’t anything that had been done wrong etc I just had an unlucky labour and there was just so many people in and out my room in the induction suite I didn’t know wether I was coming or going and neither did they!
