You can get them second hand! Or just cheaper ones can often be good. We've moved to a different place now and the Babyzen yoyo we had with our first wouldn't cope with the terrain so I bought a super cheap Hauck buggy as I didn't want to spend loads because we're done having kids now. It cost like £150 and it's actually been great! Is it the sturdiest? No. Is is a bit plasticy? Yeah! Does it do the job? Absolutely!
The one I want is gonna cost £500
We had a Joie system for our son (was second hand but only taken out of the box they decided they didn't like it so kept it in the garage for a couple months and then sold it to my mum as they're neighbours for £60 to help me out) and it's £400-500 depending where you get it from and I couldn't fault it! It did everything I needed perfectly and we've actually gone for another Joie one that's a double as we are expecting our second in a couple weeks and loved the brand that much we didn't really even look at any others
My parents generously paid for our travel system and was insistent on getting a good one. If it was left to me, I would have got a second hand pram then paid more for a decent stroller for when he went in to that and a good car seat xx
Def second hand. We got ours off someone who sold them professionally cleaned (probably ex display) for a third of the price. And it looked really new.
For my first we bought a cheap one online, but honestly it was pretty crap! It was so heavy and just wasn’t comfortable to push, my son also outgrew it by 12 months although it was supposed to last until he was 3. For my second I really shopped around and decided on an egg pram which are at least £1500 brand new. I then hunted Facebook market place and found a really lovely one for about £200, and it has been so well looked after. I can’t justify spending thousands but you do definitely get what you pay for. Definitely buy secondhand but take your time searching and find one that’s been taken care of 😊
We went to the Baby Show expo and got to try them all out and see them in person. They also do show prices, we got an Ocarro bundle, car seat and everything for 1/3 of the price because it was “last years colour”. Way cheaper!
Ours was £250 and I love it. We thought it sturdier than the £700 ones we looked at. It’s a Panorama XT I think! My advice is go to a big store if you can (we went to Smyths toy store) and test drive them :)
I got a travel system from Smyths toys for £120. I was not about to chuck out that much money for a pram lol it’s crazy! I love the one I ended up with. Extremely nice quality, easy to use, and lightweight
I have the same dilemma
It’s something you’re going to use every day for at least a year. That being said I bought a ‘premium’ Mamas & Papas set which retailed at over £1k for just £450. Just need to know where to look ;)
Ours was £500 from Ickle Bubba on sale, the stomp luxe travel system
I got £800 worth of travel system on fb marketplace for £170 like new as only used for 3 months as such a big baby he grew out of car seat so they sold the whole lot!
Please buy a new seat and a recommended brand. Some are not tested enough and are not very safe.

I got one from Smyths £200 too as I can’t see the point for the expensive ones plus we will have a tall bub 100% and if bub is anything like my nephew- he needed new pram after 5months as he outgrew the one they originally got, so im not risking that. I got the 2in 1 option that comes with carseat but bought maxi cosi carseat as I dont trust the one that comes with the pram😅
For the time they are in them you can get some amazing second hand ones. Mine was second hand about £300 and we got a car seat that fit onto it too (maxi cosi I size very safe cheaper side and fits most prams) I’ve got a joolz and I love it
I'd invest in a good new car seat, then look for sales or second hand for a buggy. I got car seat at The Baby Show before deciding on a buggy as I'd researched and decided which one I wanted (Joie i-spin Safe). The car seat doesn't come off the base so I didn't need to find a buggy that was compatible. I wanted one that was £1250ish but tried it at the show and it was really heavy. Went into a store around Black Friday and got the Nuna Mixx Next Pram and Carrycot for £688 down from £860 and it's such a good buggy - so easy to push, steer and the carrycot and seat sits higher so LG is closer to me and further from the ground and exhausts etc. Only downside is the carrycot takes up a fair bit of space and it's a 2-handed put together and fold down.
We got our cosatto gigglelite travel system for a bargain off Amazon, costing £300 for baby carseat, carrycot which converts to a Pushchair seat and the frame, def check Amazon out. I would've gone secondhand but wanted a new car seat and the price was close to what people were asking on fb marketplace
If you have your heart set on a certain “premium” pram after looking at some, make sure to shop online. We fell in love with the Oyster in a shop, and I think it was around £1200…. I looked online and got the whole system brand new for £650 in a discontinued colour (yellow, which we actually love!)
We got Ickle Bubba 😍😍 £500 for full travel set and a next to me cot and it’s so nice
There are ex display systems on eBay/Facebook market x
Online4baby do some really reasonably priced ones! I’m getting an Ickle Bubba Stomp travel system from there for £360.
I got an Evenflo for $319 CAD
I paid 1500 for mine but it’s because I wanted a specific type of stroller , it’s amazing and compact and worth the money especially if you like to travel a lot it’s the bugaboo dragonfly stroller bundle (brings the regular stroller, bassinet and car seat) good for the next 4 years of your baby’s growth a similar pram to it but cheaper version is the mompush 2 in 1 stroller it’s 150-200 dollars on Amazon (doesn’t come with car seat ) 🫶🏼 hope this helps
Sorry noticed this is in england lol the pricing I put was for usd idk the pricing for pounds
You can get cheaper ones but they are clunkier, the more expensive ones are probably much lighter.
I have kinderkraft one, 115£. I am happy with it. Does the job at cost my pocket allows. Wish it had a carrycot though
@Lauren A The car seat choice is so important. I nearly got a cosatto travel system cheap in Black Friday or something similar before we were ttc just because of the price, but I wouldn't touch a cosatto car seat with a barge pole. There are good, safe car seats at a reasonable price point - they just may not go with the travel system brand you want, but safety comes first 100%
I got Miniuno toura from boots, was £300 I think, it’s lovely so I would definitely recommend x

@Carys oh dear, I am using a cosatto system for my baby. What's wrong with the car seat? It's a new one obviously
@Aimee they are tested to minimum standards. I saw some were recalled recently as a part was missing or not installed correctly.
@kat I’m sorry to jump in but not all are safe, please do your research on seats before saying stuff like this, some are tested very minimally and in a crash they don’t perform well at all resulting in injuring children, there’s a lot of factors into safety of seats not just the fit please go look at some crash tests of lower tested seats before you say stuff like that.
I got the ickle bubba stomp urban travel set for £400 on Amazon
@Aimee As Jo said, they are very minimally tested - I think it's up to 30 mph (combined speed) so all fine if you crash with 2 cars going 15mph each but no good on most roads. Obviously the hope is you don't ever need it. They may have improved since I was looking as they do an Axkid seat with their patterns (though that's not their seat just their fabric). I wasn't ever going to get a seat that wasn't Swedish Plus Tested though so that rules out a few brands.
You can get cheaper ones but you do notice the difference. Smyths have lots to look at. Alternatively you can buy second hand.
