Foley bulb/balloon induction

Has anyone had a balloon induction before? Really keen to understand experiences!

I have a c section booked but so keen to kick off labour before then. Have already had a few sweeps with one more to go and was looking to avoid being induced, but see this as the most ‘natural’ method of induction.

Thank you!

Had it! Baby’s heart rate dropped slightly so they wouldn’t use the drugs for induction for me. Was not the best experience but not terrible. Just felt like I was having bad contractions. And it took hours. Once it fell out (at 3cm I believe) while I peeing lol, I felt fine. If you’re going with an epidural get it before that. A pain medication could have helped too if you’re not doing epidural. Definitely does the job my whole labor from induction to birth was 14ish hours.

They gave me gas & air then a consultant inserted the balloon (i think it was new then)
Anyway she asked the midwife to check it was in the right place before inflating it and it was in the wrong place so she pulled it out without warning-pretty harshly
Then she said let me check as that may have jolted your cervix well it did bec i was 1cm and after she yanked it out i was 3cm so there was no need to reinsert it thank God.

I then had my waters broken and was on the drip, i was advised to have the epidural as the drip is supposed to be rather painful.

I spent 5 nights being induced, 1 night in labour and 1 spent in after birth.
It was 1 long ass week but i had a baby so all worth it.

Im booked for an induction on 15th May and im crying bec i dont want to go through that again. Lets pray our babies come before then

I had one with my last, It wasn't the best experience as my body was just not ready and I had a 32-hour very stressful labor. I had the balloon put in and started getting the contractions quite soon but they went on and on and on. I'm having another one on Saturday and I'm hoping it will be less traumatic than the last. Although as long as baby comes out safe we'll be fine ❤️
