Naps - self soothe

Struggling with naps, baby only contact naps or in the car/pram so tricky when I’m home to get myself in the shower etc or do tasks at home. Currently we can sometimes get her to nap in the cot but she mostly cries. Conscious she’ll be going to nursery in a few months though so want to help her self soothe really. Any suggestions please?

omg, it's absolutely exhausting isn't it. You just never get a break!

My daughter always contact naps at home but when she went to nursery she sleeps in the cot.

They start a new association at nursery ie they know that there they lay in the cot etc and sleep.

Was there much crying involved? I feel like we need to do something for my sanity, but I can't bear to hear her cry.

you really don’t, 30 mins flies by 😕

that’s interesting, I don’t use sleep sack for naps but do keep the room dark, white noise etc. do you go to any classes , like baby sensory etc? We go to a class 3 times a week at different times so her naps are all over the place around the class times.
Did she settle ok when you left her? Two weeks isn’t too bad is it, lots of determination, thanks for your reply xxx

Hi Charlotte, I’ve found the best way is to settle him to sleep in my arms and then transfer once he’s been asleep for 5 mins. It might take you a couple of attempts.
Eventually the aim is he will be able to be put in cot and just have a back rub and little song but we’re not there yet! Some naps still don’t always go to plan though so take it one at a time xx

Ours will only sleep in a moving buggy or occasionally a moving car. Every now and then I’ll try a cot nap but more often than not he’ll wake as soon as I put him down (I can’t put him in there awake). My daughter was self soothing and putting herself to sleep by this point so it’s frustrating as I don’t think we’ve done anything differently this time around

Avatar

that’s the exact same that happens to us, really frustrating x

Will try the sleep sack during the day then too, thanks! We tend to do that too, we had a class today which was right over her nap time and I thought she’d be grumpy but wasn’t too bad and stayed awake until we got home lol just! X

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?
