Bedtime routine

How do you all do it when you put your little one to sleep. Do you stay in the room until they’re asleep or leave them awake? Mostly asking the people who didn’t sleep train as I know that the point then is to leave the room.

My daughter is 16 months and I put her down awake in the crib but will sit next to it until she as sleep then walk out. Starting to think if I need to change that at some point as I would like her to be able to fall asleep alone. Or is it just a time thing that it will happen organically?

I just walk out, I’ve never stayed in the room even for naps. Always have the monitor on - my boy has slept the night since 3 months, he’s never been in our bed or anything he’s very independent

Generally all children will sleep through the night and put themselves to sleep without sleep training once they’re developmentally ready but this happens at different ages. At the moment I rock/feed my 15m old to sleep in our rocking chair at bedtime because I love the connection time and it only takes 15 mins. Then I transfer her onto her bed and she generally sleeps through the night. Usually toddlers will let you know when they’re ready to go to sleep alone, at the moment I’m planning on waiting until my daughter has a bit more understanding so that we can talk about it together. If you really need it to change then thats ok, the routine needs to work for both of you, but there will likely be some upset at this age that you just need to help them work through x

The group beyond sleep training on Facebook is great for positive stories of toddlers who have always been responded to and now have the confidence to make the choice that they’re ready to go to sleep alone x

My son who is 18 months old has been in our bed for a long time and I usually used to lay him on my and pat him but now I get in his travel cot with him and get him to sleep then once he’s sleeping I put him down and creep out the room.

He wakes a couple of times but I’ve only been doing it since Monday so he’s not yet mastered sleeping through and staying in his cot.

My first was sleep trained early and a really good sleeper, but I always stayed in the room out of sight while she fell asleep. When she was about 2 she started telling me to get out of her room 😂

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
