White noise machines? Love or loathe?

More and more of my new mum friends are using white noise machines to get their babies to fall asleep and stay asleep.

However, what about when YOU want to sleep and you have the white noise machine blaring out in your room… doesn’t that keep parents awake? Can you get babies to sleep without them?

I need total quiet and darkness when I try to sleep - is that going to be possible?! 😫

I was like you and needed totally silence to stay asleep but now I need white noise to fall asleep 😂 you do get used to it

You get used to it, I struggle to sleep without it now. You also won’t get complete silence when trying to sleep babies are noisy sleepers! Lots of grunting and weird noises.

My little boy does not like white noise so now I have a pointless machine just sitting there 🙃 he just screamed even more when it’s on 😅

I don’t think white noise should be ‘blaring out’ we have ours on the lowest setting, just to help cover the noise we make whilst he’s trying to get to sleep - if it’s too loud it can damage their hearing

I use white noise to help her fall asleep, it stays on for naps in the daytime (drowns out neighbourhood noise) but generally I turn it off overnight when I come up to bed.

But yeah you will not get total silence with a newborn. Even when fast asleep, they are so noisy 😂

My husband and I like the white noise now 😂 as for sound machine with light, I sleep with an eye mask (did that before baby came) and it continues to be a life saver

I used to use a white noise machine in the beginning but now we sleep in complete silence & darkness and baby sleeps absolutely fine, i’d even say she sleeps better without it

I cannot sleep without white noise now 😂

I bought the white noise machine for my baby girl but now I am loving it more than her and I cannot sleep without white noise machine 🙈

same! It’s never done anything for my baby but i now need noise to sleep 😂 I actually prefer brown over white noise though

The Hatch has a setting where the light can be off with white noise on. I have the Hatch Rest Baby. It also has brown noise which is a bit more toned down than white noise.

There are lots of different types of sounds so you can see if one is less annoying to you.

We literally travel with our sound machine even 2.5 years later. My son isn’t even a particularly light sleeper but it’s honestly so helpful. It’s also a sleep association for him now and he plugs it in and turns it on himself (he’s not plugging it into an outlet).

I hate white noise so I refused to get one! Baby sleeps fine so I guess as she never had one she has no idea what she’s missing, lol

I needed silence but now I’m used to it I find it hides the background noise so if dogs bark or something that would give her a fright she can continue to sleep

We never had white noise blaring out. We used Alexa and got her to play womb music. It was quite relaxing and we didn't struggle to sleep with it

I genuinely hate the sound of white noise. I did find one with an actual fan inside and I find that one relaxing.

My baby’s crib is in my room and I don’t use a noise machine. I have the Hatch and I LOVE it but I only use it for the clock and nightlight. When I try putting him down for naps I’ll sometimes use the lullaby sound, but I can’t stand the sound of white noise, I think it’s creepy sounding😂he doesn’t really fall asleep for naps in his crib, but he’s happy if the lullaby is playing. At night he goes to bed super easy with no noise though!

Love. I hate tv or music when I’m trying to sleep, but white noise is fine.

I never really did the noises I tried with my second as he was a horrible sleeper and it didn’t work and he’s still a horrible sleeper lmfao

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Car seat crying

My 6 month old PANICS the second I put him in a car seat and screams, cries, chokes and recently even projectile vomited on a 14 minute drive. It’s gotten to the point I don’t even bring him out unless it’s to a doctors appointment. I’m a stay at home mom with no family in my state and it has been very isolating. We’ve tried 3 different car seats with no improvement. Has anyone had a baby who hated the car seat? Any advice? This started at 3 months. I will add it does seem worse when he’s tired. He does cry on every trip though. He only contact naps and co sleeps so he reaches for me and will not sleep in the car seat.

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
