My baby is 9 months old+ and I’m not sure if I’m doing enough play with him to support his development. He has a few toys and I tend to sit on the floor with him while he picks toys from his basket. What kind of games/toys are good to play with and what are the best ways to positively engage a baby this age?

Find stuff around your house. One thing is water bottles with beads, dry beans or something in it as a shaker, use measuring cups for them to play with water, pieces of paper for them to rip and practice gripping. There’s a lot you can’t do with just household items!

I made some homemade sensory stuff which my boy loves! Two recycled plastic water bottles. One I put brightly coloured plastic straws inside and the other I bought some candy eyes for cakes - they make a great shake sound and he loves both. Cost me approx £2.50
Web also recently visited our local zoo and in the shop they had a fluffy puppet giraffe - he went wild for it and I play peepo with it.
