Is anyone electing to have a C section?
There are so many decisions to make and I have no idea what to do.

Yes I think I will… giving birth naturally scares me 😂🙈 xx

I chose an elective Caesarian. Happy to answer any questions x
I think it’s the epidural that’s freaking me out the most, it’s the main thing making me indecisive

I had a spinal tap and I’ll be honest, as I’m a huge chicken, that bit was nothing. The cannula in my hand hurt more.
The spinal tap acts faster, fades quicker and doesn’t stay in your back. I had a small scratch for the numbing jab, 2 secs, then asked to lean forward and touch my ankles (which is just very awkward with the bump). Deep breath and lean back into the anaesthetists hand, 3,2,1, done. My husband was holding my shoulder and talking to me, radio on and the midwife singing along. It didn’t hurt at all. Within seconds, I was laid down and that was it. The staff are so amazing at distracting nervous patients and my experience was actually very happy and calm.
Afterwards, my side effect in recovery was sweating as it wore off. I could move my legs (but not feel them) within an hour or so. I had my baby at 10pm, slept, and then stood up and walked normally at 8am xx
how was your recovery? I’ve heard for some it can take a long time and others they were up and doing it all within 12 hours
Thank you so much for your advice it’s made me feel a bit better!!

I was in the pub day 4 pp for lunch and went to Costco 😂 I took the underground home and never struggled with stairs or lifting baby.
Electives and emergencies are very different experiences and recoveries.
By 6-8 weeks I was back to normal running again and travelling to Australia to see family.
My main bits of advice are take the stool softener (the drugs are amazing but they cause constipation which is just an unnecessary added discomfort), take your meds on time even if you feel okay, stay mobile. The more mobile you are, the faster you heal. Staying in bed doesn’t aid recovery. Walk little and often, go slow but go. Drink plenty and have plenty of snacks and things near the sofa xx
thank you so much, honestly that’s pretty much made up my mind 😂

I did not want a c section because I didn't want to have to get the epidural/spinal block or put asleep.
Tried natural birth, ended up getting the epidural, babys heart gave out over it and I was being prepped for an emergency. Baby decided nope and he was on the way out when the hospital gown was only over my head the nurse whipped it off me and all after she seen his head out 😅🤣 my birth story is literally just pure comedy gold from start to finish

I loved my emergency c section and I’m having a scheduled one in July 🥰

Honestly elective c sections are nothing like the horror stories.
You'll only be in theatre around an hour and baby will be out in first 10/15 mins... the rest of the time flys by! All being well they'll probably discharge you the next day.
The only pain I felt was a few seconds sting for the needles and the recovery was achey but totally manageable on paracetamol and ibuprofen taken religiously for 2 weeks. I was able to carry him in car seat briefly the next day. Got down to change him on the floor. Was putting washing in and wiping spills on the floor a few days later... it's all doable slowly and carefully.
We were out walking week 2 and visiting family. Week 3 I drove.

My comments here go into almost step by step if it helps anyone....

Elected csection here for multiple reasons, my daughters heart condition, plan on having my tubes taken out, i have hip dysplasia as well so i would likely be unable to effectively push and labor, as my pelvis is oddly shaped.
