Does anybody plan to not make any decisions until 42 weeks?

Im only 39plus 2 and if she is not hear by tuesday im getting induced but thats my choice due to reduced movments and struggling with pain and stuff right now

I've made a similar choice, avoiding induction at all costs! Mine ended in an emergency c section as well and the whole experience traumatised me, was absolutely horrendous. We've booked an elective at 41 weeks just in case she doesn't come spontaneously, the only reason we're not going to 42 is because she's IVF and we've been advised that the risk to her increases quite a bit past this stage

I think everyone is entitled to make their own decisions and choices, we all know the risks and that it could result in c section, but I don’t think anyone makes the decision to be induced at 41 weeks easily healthy pregnancy or not

I’ve also chose to let my baby decide when he wants to come. I do not want to be induced whatsoever. And so far I have a healthy pregnancy.

My hospital only allows up to 41 as the risks increases for still born. I've been low risk throughout. I would be keen on doing some research and understanding the benefits of different methods

stop scaring people. it’s advised, doesn’t mean you need to do it and it doesn’t always end up in a c section- some people don’t even mind getting a c section in the end. it’s not rushing a baby out; it’s down to physical overwhelm, tiredness and going beyond your due date. saying so many of you will end up with an emergency section is so unnecessary and just because it’s not YOUR choice doesn’t mean you put anything onto anyone else. weird behaviour

I waited with my first I went into natural labour at 42 weeks exactly but my BP sky rocketed, my second was 41+1 but same happened so third time they induced me at 40+5 and this time baby is breech so I'm having another scan at 39 weeks if it hasn't turned then will have an elective section:)

They didn't mention how much the risk increases but as a FTM and not a midwife I'm keen on listening to their thoughts and opinions. If I disagreed with in strongly I'd go somewhere else. I'm not saying I'd just do what they tell me, I'll ask the questions if I get to that point and see what the options are. My mum had a still born so when they said it, I was a lot more conscious to that.

What’s with the scaremongering?? Especially to FTM.
I’m a 2TM but if read this post while being pregnant with my first I’d be scared. Let people make their own choices it’s their body, their pregnancy?? This is such a strange post.

Everyones birth is a different experience and dependant on their own circumstances and health.

If it was a one size fits all then what would be the point in planning for birth at all? Women are going in to labour and making choices based on what they believe to be right for them and baby.

If you’ve had a bad experience with birth then you should be even more open to people advocating for themselves no matter whether that means their opinion differs to yours or not.

Please be aware of the anxiety and stress particularly FTM are already under and a post like this isn’t helpful or productive. Someone could end up being that concerned they refuse intervention and end up facing the consequences of that.

I would LOVE to go full tem natural and get my water birth I wanted but sadly am being induced at 37 weeks tomorrow baby’s not coping very well very restricted movements & hadn’t grown in 2.5 hour weeks, and I have protein in my urine and swollen feet and headaches so they think am developing pre eclampsia and won’t take the risk leaving her in any long x
