Hi moms! My baby is currently experiencing a 4 month sleep regression and frequently wakes at night. I have read about training them to sleep independently by not offering the breast to soothe them at such times, however I’ve found nothing works easier and quicker than nursing her to sleep. Any body going through a similar phase? What techniques have you guys found most effective that doesn’t involve rocking/nursing them back to sleep ?

Nothing your baby is probably hungry

I have also heard the same thing but have been nursing baby to sleep as well. We have tried a pacifier, but nothing other than the boob works so that’s what we do. Always open to suggestions!

Have you tried walking your baby in the cradle position and patting their butt? My baby goes to sleep pretty quick if I do that, I also play loud white noise all night long.

We just give our baby her paci when she wakes in the night. She goes to bed around 9pm and she used to sleep a 7 hour stretch before waking and fussing now she’s waking every few hours and accepts the paci and goes back to sleep. Once it hits 7-8 hours though we do give her a feed if she wakes up

My boy sleeps amazing right now - he sleep trained himself, put himself on a schedule and lays down with a pacifier and goes to sleep. But when the 4mo regression hits I plan to just nurse him to sleep again like when he was smaller.
I go to sleep best with shorts, a tank top, and a cover, no matter what temperature it is. That's what's comfortable to me. And if it's been a rough day I want my husband to put his arm around me while we sleep. I don't see why we wouldn't give our little babies the comfort they want to be able to sleep when we do it for ourselves.

I just feed mine he’ll eat a little then fall right back asleep, if I just rock him to sleep without feeding him he won’t sleep well

last night i tried to rock my baby back to sleep instead of nurse and after 15 mins i gave up and put her
on the breast. she fell asleep in literally 5 seconds… so imma just keep nursing lmfao 😭😭 it’s already hard enough waking up, i can’t deal w her being up for long periods of time as well

😂😂😂 I feel this with every fiber of being

I nursed our son to sleep during the regression. It was the only thing he wanted or would do. I was afraid of reverse cycling and him primarily eating at night. The regression has seemed to end and he is able to self soothe a lot better now. We didn’t do any sleep training or anything. Our philosophy is to always be there and be comfort so they know you’re there for them. Then over time they will become more independent cause they know that when they aren’t able to soothe themselves and cry that you’ll be there for them.
