Is it common to go in for your c section and get pushed back/not have your section that day?
I guess it’s the unknown but pretty uncommon as they have elective section surgeons and emergency surgeons?

I could be wrong but I’m sure I’ve heard that some hospitals have 1 theatre for electives and 1 open for emergencies but in some cases they end up needing the other for another emergency but idk how true that is for all hospitals
Yeah I thought this exactly!! X

If that is the case it’s probably not that often that they end up needing the second but I guess like you said, it’s just the unknown. Hope for the best 😂 it’ll be my luck that mine will get pushed back but as frustrating as it will be I don’t think I’ll mind because I’ve been in the position of needing an emergency c section so I’m grateful there was a theatre free at the time

There’s usually one theatre for each. If there’s 2 emergencies at one time then they’ll need both theatres.
It’s not uncommon.
Guess it highly depends on area/population too!

Mine was booked for 5th June and they called me the Friday before to move it to the 6th.
In my hospital they had two theatres, I ended up in the “main” one that they use for emergencies as there wasn’t one at the time of my section. I’m in the UK xx
