My son was refusing to nap yesterday and pushing towards 3:30. He normally naps around 2 hours so I didn’t let him sleep. He went down for the night easy at 8:30 and woke up at 8 this morning. He never sleeps through! I feel bad keeping him awake but man we both needed the sleep. I feel like he’s too young to not nap.

Some kids are low sleep needs. Keep offering the nap, but it's his job to take the nap. You can't force him to sleep

it looks like you may be expecting too much overnight sleep in addition to his nap
if waking at 8 at this age nap at 230/3 is appropriate especially if low sleep needs like Charlotte mentioned

He normally sleeps 10 to 11 hours at night and about 2 to 3 hours in the day. But going to sleep is always a fight. I stopped expecting 12 hours over night a few months ago because he needed less sleep. I will keep offering the nap though. He’s still young.

I would try 6/5 or 6/5.5 with a 90 minute nap

thank you I might give it a try. I like your name by the way 😀

thank you 🥰

I’ve adapted quiet time from 12:30-2:30 since I also notice she fights her nap. She’s stays in her crib and she will either sleep the whole time or would sleep an hour of that.

We don’t have our son on a sleep schedule. Some days he naps n others he doesn’t. Kinda depends on what he’s done for the day. It definitely helps keep him asleep later in the morning when he skips

You could try no nap gradually. Do the nap and night sleep 30 min after normally for 3 days. Then, 30 min after that for another 3 days. Do this until your toddler goes to sleep at 10-10:30. Finally don't take nap. I hope it could help

Wow that’s amazing. Our son is low sleep needs so he sleeps less than 10 hours at night but naps 2 hours during the day. We want to start capping his nap so that he shifts back to sleeping 10 hours overnight.
He’s definitely not ready to drop a nap though.
