Harvesting colostrum advice…

I am 37w on Monday so thinking about starting to harvest colostrum, so far I’ve not leaked any but do get a small amount of liquid if I squeeze (done out of curiosity 🤭). The NHS website says that you shouldn’t use a pump but I have seen that many women do and have no issues? What are peoples experiences so far with this? Should I just give hand expressing a go and if it doesn’t work try my pump? Help please!

I’ve personally been using my pump and had no issues, been doing it for 4 days and have about 11ml so far! I know advice is to hand express but I just can’t do it x

I just used hand after warm shower last time. I able collect 25ml for 1 week but i’m not do it 3x a day. Just when I have time. I looked at youtube how to massage the breast and how to press it

I used my electric one, an Elvie stride. I started with 15 minutes on each side twice a day, then day three started 20 mins each side three times a day :) xx

I had to use a pump because I have large boobs and I cannot get it to come without one, but I also have to squeeze the nipple to get any which isn’t advised

I’ve only managed 0.5ml atm of 3 days trying

I think its not recommended to use a pump because it's such a small amount that you collect. It's best to do after a shower. You can find videos of what to do as you need to find the right place- it too me a few attempts last pregnancy, until I found the right technique

Silly question, but how does hand expressing work? I need to start harvesting colostrum tomorrow and I am terrified!!!

Personally using a manual pump (medela harmony) and have found it works for me. I hand express the first drop then start using the pump. However I have seen lots of people saying it’s not a good idea. I’m a week in and all been fine x

This is my diary below 👇

Day 1 - nothing with hand

Day 2 - droplets nothing collectable with medela 10 min x1

Day 3 - 0.8ml with medela 10 min x2

Day 4 - 2ml 10-15 min x2

Day 5 - 3ml 10-15 mins x3

Day 6 - 7.8ml 10 mins x3

Day 7 - 7ml 10 mins x2 (only had 7 syringes so just expressed twice)

Week 1 = 20.6ml

Do men really enjoy fellatio?

Been together more than 10 years, but it's been a while since he even seemed remotely interested in me getting on my knees, or vice versa so to speak. I think it was once last year. Must be something I am doing wrong 🤔. Generally everything else in that department is great and we have two young kids with no extra support, so it's quite surprising we can't keep our hands off each other but may need to try new things. It's basically 2 positions each time with some foreplay.

Vanilla extract

Has anyone used alcohol free vanilla in their babies formal to help them drink?
I’m 100% sure my baby refuses her bottles as she doesn’t like the taste of it!

Just anxious to try it, don’t want her to get used to it and then refuse bottles again after two weeks of using (correct me if I’m wrong but I’ve read you use it for 2 weeks max)

TIA 🙂

Naps

How is everyone doing for naps?

Little one is 9 months old and will have 2 half hour naps and one solid 1 hour - 2 hour nap a day

Then settles for night around 9pm. Wakes for a feed around 3:30 then sleeps until 6-7

Pumping advise

FTM to a 2 week old! I’m breastfeeding and then giving one formula bottle last in the evening before bed. I want to start expressing milk to give me some breathing room and also allow my partner to be more involved in feeding. I’m finding the idea of introducing pumping into my day quite overwhelming though. I don’t want to take milk away from my baby by pumping if he needs it during the day when being breastfeed.

Can anyone advise how I start pumping and when to do it? Thank you!

Sex post C section

Hi ladies I’m 4 weeks 5 days postpartum and I had a C section. I’m not bleeding properly anymore just some brownish discharge stuff that starts on and off. I’d like to do the deed with my partner; is it okay to do so or shall I wait the full 6 weeks. I feel up for it but also worried because the advice is 6-8 weeks.
