I stopped breastfeeding in about April of last year, this week 1 of my breasts have been sore and I've just noticed tonight that both breasts will produce milk when squeezed (like you did to check supply/hand express etc). Any ideas what can cause this? I've got the coil so surely couldn't be pregnant ðŸ«

Get your hormones tested, ask to check your prolactin. I got this before ever having been pregnant and I have very high prolactin x

I had breast milk for a whole year after I had my son. He was never breastfed

It is actually quite normal to have milk after stopping feeding for a long time! My friend's youngest is 3 and she still has some milk - she didn't breastfeed him either but did with her eldest so her body is used to it. It's worth getting checked out due to the soreness but it is quite common to keep producing for a while. However I would also do a pregnancy test to be safe as coil babies are unlikely but do happen!

I’d go get your hormones tested including thyroid, I produced a colostrum like substance for 16m after stopping BF but my thyroid is out of whack (apparently thyroid issues can cause this as if thyroid is out it affects other hormones, my prolactin was normal) I had to get some tablets to get it cleared up along with my thyroxine but also take a pregnancy test to rule it out too! It’s called Galactorrhea. Also don’t squeeze or try to express as any stimulation to the breasts can keep it happening
