Kensington Wing at Chelsea and Westminster

Opinions and experiences please. I’m considering having our baby at the Kensington wing and wanted to know of any and all opinions/experiences. Anything you loved, hated, would change. Was it worth it? Anything you bear in mind?

Thanks so much!

I had my baby at the birth centre there and it almost didn’t feel like a hospital it was so peaceful but they didn’t fully listen to me and as a result I tore when I didn’t need to. still having problems now to.

They are closing down

hmmm are you sure 🤔 because I’m booked to give birth there in a few weeks

are you sure we’re talking about the same place? The Kensington wing is the private maternity wing situated in Chelsea and Westminster hospital. They are not closing down. The birthing centre is situated on the third floor within C&W and is an nhs run facility, that offers birthing options for low risk and low intervention deliveries - they are not closing down either.

Apologies - wrong hospital.

My friend had a birth at KW and she really liked it. She delivered under Sadia Bhatti and apparently she was great too.

Had the best experience there in Nov 23 - had a planned C section with Dr Dennes Williams, stayed two nights. The whole care for both me and baby were fantastic by midwives and nurses and also my consultant. Highly recommend. If you decide to go through you can also go there if you have any antenatal concerns instead of the unit downstairs and you don’t wait for scans etc.

Thank you all so much - I think I’m about 90% sure I’ll go this route!

Any consultant recommendations? 😊

I’m seeing Mr Shane Duffy. My friend is with Angela Yulia and so far very pleased.

Finding out gender

Has anyone found out the gender at a private scan at 14 weeks? And has this been accurate?

I found out at 17 with my first but I know a scan place that offers from 14/15 weeks and I’m impatient 😂🥲

Induction?

Anyone been induced before? Was it more painful? Better than thought? Worse than thought? Worth it? Thoughts?

Baby names

My daughter‘s name is valentýna and I’m struggling to find other nice girl and boy names beginning with V I’ve got a few and I’ve got loads that aren’t beginning with V, but I feel like I wanna go for all vs and I also love girl and boys names that match so because my daughter’s name is valentýna I would love to call my son Valentino my husband does not agree 😃

Induction or c section?

As a last resort, would you rather be induced or have a planned c section?

Really not liking the thought of being induced from people’s experiences I’ve read!
