My nearly 10 week old still wakes up about every 3 hours in the night, occasionally she might do a 4 hour stretch, sometimes only does 2! Just wondering if anyone else’s babies still wake up so much at this age cause every baby I see seems to sleep much longer stretches! Also anyone know if it’s better for them to sleep in a dark room or have a red light on, we bought the tommee tippee dream light but now sure if it’s better to have the red light on or be in darkness!

My little girl is 8 weeks and we get 1 5 hour stretch out of her and we have a white noise machine with a red light on all night x

All babies are different some of these things help but some babies just don’t sleep as well as others, our first didn’t start sleeping well until 15months, don’t put too much pressure on yourself over it or expect it to happen straight away, hopefully yours will do it much sooner (ours was particularly bad but I’ve also heard of much much worse!) sleep isn’t linear. Co sleeping with our 2nd has meant I’m getting a lot more sleep this time round but she’s waking between 3-4hours sometimes more.. I didn’t have the confidence to co sleep with my 1st I was too nervous but so different 2nd time round! 😂
This is a great account I found , super informative and trustworthy (there is so much conflicting/confusing information out there)

So apparently good sleep is genetic so if you or your partner were crap sleepers as baby baby will be too. I'm one of the fortunate ones both my babies by 8 weeks were/are doing 12 hours with no wakes and one thing I do is make sure there's noise for all daytime sleep so the TV on my eldest playing with my youngest naps etc and no swaddles or bags for daytime sleep then nighttime sleep they both were changed put in a swaddle bag and then fed while the TV was on and then put down in their bed to settle themselves to sleep (they've both been able to self soothe and settle to sleep since birth) and then the TV goes off when I'm ready for bed and they sleep in pitch black with only the sounds of snoring to keep them company
