I'm not ready to leave the next to me behind

Keep him in it if he’s okay in it!!
My boy stayed in his next to me until he was almost 10 months old!!
Only reason he moved out of it into his cot, was because we moved house and bought the cot for his bedroom before the room just became a storage dump.

Just a suggestion but there’s a next to me forever, I have it for my little boy. It’s a next to me that converts into a traditional cot and then into a floor bed. It’s designed from birth to 4 years old so has a higher weight limit etc and is longer. They’re pricey but absolutely worth it. My little boy is 7 nearly 8 months old and on the 91st percentile in height and 50th percentile on weight. Hope this helps x

Buy a mini cot, rather than a full size cot…. Ikea do one (which I bought, and like) that later converts into a bed. (It’s called Gulliver) (or there are lots of other mini cots available other than this one - some nice sleigh bed options).

I always planned to get a mini cot after the next2me. They are typically around 60cm wide by around 120cm long.
A traditional cot seems huge to me 😅

I got a mini cot from ikea also after the next to me. I did cosleep with my little boy so he didn’t use the cot much however it wasn’t as big as a traditional cot

My baby (6 months on Wednesday) is currently over the next 2 me weight limit (she is 20lb 8oz and the limit is 20lb) and she is still doing OK.

I do plan on moving her soon but it’s quite a bigger step than I had imagined, I will miss her not being next to me and not knowing what she is doing apart from looking on a small screen 🥺 if I had an alternative for our bedroom to keep her for longer I would but she does need to move soon 😭

my baby girl is a similar weight and just turned six months, I didn’t realise she was a big baby until I went swimming and she was bigger than the three 8 and a half month olds.

I don’t feel ready yet and my baby is over the weight limit but she is so long she is fast out growing the space so we will have to make the move much quicker than I would like x

If he still fits I wouldn’t stress too much but that’s my opinion and have no idea about safety I couldn’t even tell you the weight limit on mine we only moved her as she started rolling in her sleep and the next to me was too small so she kept smacking the sides and waking herself up so we knew she was ready for a bigger bed xx

Ong also they do like mini cribs so they’re not that much bigger than a next to me but obvi the weight limit is higher xx

I didn’t even know there was a limit 😬 my 5 month old is 22lb and still in his (just about) 👀

I personally wouldn’t keep baby in the bedside crib past it’s weight limit as it hasn’t been safety certified for that. Is it an option for you to set up a little bed in baby’s room and sleep in there until you’re ready to sleep apart?

yeah my baby always looks huge compared to babies her age or older too, but she has always been big, she was 10lb 9oz at birth 🙈 she is also very long so doesn’t have much room left in the next to me either so I think our days are numbered until I have to move her 😭 I don’t think I was quite prepared for this milestone 🥲
