My total cost pre insurance was 21,000 (not including my son’s hospital charges). A couple of options for you - may be able to look up average costs at different hospitals and choose the cheapest option. Some hospitals also offer substantial discounts to folks paying out of pocket regardless of their income (usually like a 25-50% discount) and you also may qualify for financial assistance/free care from the hospital directly depending on your income. Lastly, once your baby is born, you go into a special enrollment period and are able to switch insurance plans. At least in my state, if you choose a marketplace plan the plan you choose will backdate to the baby’s birthdate and will cover the hospital fees. So if you are eligible for a market place plan and it works the same on your state you might be able to switch to one that will cover your elective c-section. So if I were in your shoes, I’d be making a bunch of phone calls to the hospitals and state based marketplace
