So many inductions!

I feel like some of them do it just to have a better idea of time line? I would hope it’s in the best interest of both mom and baby but I’ve read a lot of negative stories of drs wanting to better time the delivery for their own schedule. Hopefully that’s less common than they make it sound.

Mine is because of my history. This is my 5th pregnancy and I have one child at home. My first son had complications they found at anatomy scan and he passed 15 hours after birth. They induced me with him because of the specific situation at 37 weeks to give him the best chance. I had a miscarriage, then had my daughter. They planned to induce me with her at 39 weeks due to the risk of still birth going up later in pregnancy and just to play it safe and get her here to make sure she was healthy. I had another miscarriage in October, and now I’m due August 20th. This time they are inducing me at 37 weeks and 2 days due to my bile acid levels being high elevated so they have diagnosed me with cholestasis. The risks with cholestasis are really serious and one of them is stillbirth so they are just trying to get my baby here safely which I greatly appreciate and am fine with going a little early to make sure of that.

Mine is because of medical reasons. I was border on preeclampsia with my first and it's starting to head that way with this one. So to be safe we are getting baby out. I have been having headaches and migraines and my Dr isn't happy about it so to be safe we are inducing on Sunday 🙃

I was induced with my first at 38 weeks for hypertension... it failed and led to a C-section... that was my experience. My friend has had 3 babies and was induced for all 3 (2 for health reasons of the baby).

My Dr wants to induce at 39 weeks because I just turned 41. After age 40 there is a SLIGHT higher risk of stillborn due to placental age or something

I was induced with my first for no reason. I walked in at 39 weeks and had her 6 days later via c section because of a failed induction. He never told me why he was inducing me and I wish I had more knowledge at the time to know I could refuse. My guess is he wanted to get my pregnancy over with. I was low risk as possible no issues but baby heartbeat dropped due to her chord around her neck so had a c section. Hoping to avoid an induction this time but seeing as everyone is posting induction dates I think I might be next 😭

I was just induced on Monday for growth restrictions. I was 2cm and 70% effaced when I got there. We started the first dose of cytotec at 10:50, I ended up getting iv paid meds at hour 3, got my cervix checked again at the 4th hour and there was no change so we did a second dose of cytotec. I also got another dose of pain meds when we did the cytotec. I think like 20 minutes later my water broke and 30 minutes after that I had dilated fully and pushed her out in 15 minutes lol. They gave me pitocin after just to help my uterus contract to stop my bleeding.

I agree it’s been many induction post but I had told my self in a few weeks ago no matter how much I want him to come out already. I’m going to let him wait his time until he’s ready. Especially if I have no medical reason to need to . I’ve been healthy and baby has been healthy entire pregnancy I would hate for something to go left because of an induction that’s not necessary

I JUST told the Dr at my 36 week check up that I don’t want to be induced again (traumatic first experience) and she started talking like one was gonna be set up if I don’t give birth by 39 weeks🙃 I’m doing everything possible to go into labor before then

I have GD so my dr is giving me the option of inducing at 39 weeks but she said if I want to wait for 40 weeks she will support that decision also. She said baby is looking great either way and it’s my call. I’m actually leaning towards induction though. GD has been really hard on me. I can barely move much right now as I’m so uncomfortable to the point it gets a little painful. My nurse was like yeah I don’t think you’re going to make it to 40 if you’re already that uncomfortable. She thinks baby is ready to come very soon. 😅

My doctor won’t induce me until I hit 41 weeks but my baby is measuring smaller. I am hoping she arrives by 41 weeks because I don’t want to be pregnant that long 😭

My first induction was due to my baby measuring small and then I had preeclampsia at the end of pregnancy and my second induction was due to me being overweight,had to go for a lot of non stress test and my baby failed a few ,I’ve been healthy with this pregnancy but I’m going to elect to get induced at 39 weeks bc honesty I’m over pregnancy and this pregnancy hasn’t been too kind to me ,got diagnosed with hyperemesis and It’s been a mental battle.

I’ve been listening to the Evidence Based Birth Podcast and I think a big reason for the recent push for inductions is the results from the ARRIVE Trial, which basically found that induction between 39-40 weeks reduced the risk of c-section and other pregnancy complications. It’s not a perfect study but my OB referenced it as well. You should be able to find it online if you’re interested!

Congratulations on your delivery. I am being induced for the same reason may I ask his far you were and how much did your baby girl weigh at delivery?

I’m having to get a scheduled C-Section because at my last scan we found out some complications. Baby is in the wrong position and aren’t able to get her to move/stay in the right position…

At my 36 week visit my doctor talked to me about scheduling an induction, she let me decide when I would want to if I don’t go into spontaneous labor. I decided to schedule it at 40+2. My pregnancy has been healthy and I choose to schedule an induction so I have a little more control of when baby arrives. I have no interest in waiting 41-42 weeks. The ARRIVE trial study that mentioned is a big reason OBs plan for inductions between 39-40 weeks. The study showed inductions reduce risk of c sections. But personally 39 weeks sounds too early if there’s no medical reason. The only negative I see and that’s mention in the study is potentially longer hospital stay. People say the contraction pain is worse with pitocon but I plan to have nitric oxide and epidural for pain management. 😉
