My boobs are hard as rocks and hurts. What should I do to them to make them better?

Try massaging them with a warm compress (warm towel??), hot shower + hand massage during/after shower, nurse your baby to help with let down. Do you have a Haaka? That helps too!
Good luck!!

This happened to me and it was excruciating! Lactation consultant advised me to do ice to minimize swelling and take ibuprofen… unfortunately it just took time to fade but it does get better!!

@Sem no, I don't, but ok, I will try cause they hurt so baf

@Jarusha I had a c section. My blood pressure didn't do so well, so I can only take Tylenol only

I did as well but they even gave me ibuprofen 😳

Are you pumping? Cause that's what I did when mine were engorged. But if you are formula feeding then you just deal with pain but ice does help. I just went through this 2 weeks ago

dang they told no only Tylenol, but I am on blood pressure meds too

@Jazmine, yeah, I'm pumping, I only want to breastfeed, but I pumped before I took a nap and woke up to them being bigger and hurting, so do I pump more often than?

Found this on YouTube. It really works and helps me so much

I also bought these which you can use as ice or heat packs for your boobs!

@Jazmin I'm in the same boat and my doc told me not to pump cause it will just have you keep making more and more milk. Try and feed baby every two hours or more if they'll allow, switching sides. In the meantime, cold compress on tissue.

Pump after feedings which would be like every 2-3 hours if baby is strictly on the boob. My Dr recommended that.

pumping is going to increase your supply.
When you pump it tells your body the baby is hungry.
I also have an over supply and my lactation consultant told me it's better to do hand expression because it's less stimulating. If you want to save it you can use a hakka or letdown cups.
If you don't have those she said I could pump for 3 minutes on each side or less to relieve pressure, but that more than that I'd just be pushing the problem for later.
I'm a couple weeks in now and it's already so much better.

@Jazmin no more pumping if you are gonna exclusively breastfeeding that will increase your milk supply making the more engorged... but I heard that it subsides and it won't always be this way .

it to the point where my boobs are too big that my baby won't latch

Breast feed, offer a feed every 3 hours. Once baby is fed on both sides pump only if you need to. Try not to pump for the first 3-4 weeks if possible. Milk supply will regulate itself. Remember the more you pump, the more milk may form as a result. Alternate hot/cold packs but dont overdo it.

@Jazmin oh no! I'm sorry that sounds so uncomfortable. Are you able to soften with a warm compress and hand expression before offering to baby to latch?

this is what I had to do in the first week, and still do if he goes over 3 hrs now that we've found a better rhythm most of the time.

@Deidre I took a hot shower and that helped alot

no

Hot showers were my best friend just let the milk leak out 😭😭

ok for how long

As long as your water runs hot tbh. I would. Just sit there.

@Christine I can't I had a c section

Oh noooo I actually just had one too 😭 the only other thing I used to do it's massage from top to nipple.

These can be super helpful. Warm to help release milk or before feeds and then pop them in the freezer to help relieve pain between feeds.
