support/similar stories

hello! i just got diagnosed with HG, i’ve been upset lately as i brought up how bad my vomiting was but my OB just brushed it off and said it was normal. had to go to hospital to be put on IV because i was very dehydrated and low on potassium. initially i was very against taking any medications for nausea due to fear it’ll affect the baby negatively, but i know i got to put my health first to be able to make sure my baby is ok. any tips, support, advice? it’s makes me sad that im one of the unfortunate and really affects how many kids i want 😔!

I’ve had HG with both pregnancies and usually hate taking any medicine (I usually don’t even take Tylenol or anything). However, HG is one of those times where the benefit of getting some relief with meds is GREATER than the risk of continuing without meds. Once the baby gets big enough they will need you to eat more food and drink enough fluids for them to grow. I feel your pain and totally understand being nervous taking meds (I’m a home birthing mama who ironically chose homebirth to stay away from needles and meds), but the meds are what aloud me to have a safe home birth snd deliver a healthy baby. Hope this helps. HG is the worst! Oh also ice chips will be your best friend! Or small bites of pedialite pops.

Sending you lots of love. Agreed with the person above. I also try to live a zero medication lifestyle normally, but given the severity of HG, the benefits of medication outweigh the risks of nutritional deficiency to the baby. Before pregnancy, i took zero meds. During pregnancy, i need 2 nausea meds + 2 anti acidity meds. Keep going for IV as much as you need. If you need to, look for another OB who validates the severity of this. Big hugs!

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
