My baby has had blood in his poo and the doctor thinks it could be an egg allergy. I’ve eliminated it from my diet but two weeks later he still has blood in his poo. It looked like it was getting better but now now there’s more again. How long did it take your baby to show no symptoms? Does anyone have experience with food allergies?

What makes them think it's egg? Have they considered a dairy allergy as that's the most common!
It took 6-8 weeks to see any difference in my sons eczema caused by dairy in my breastmilk. I appreciate it's a different case but it can take a while.
My eldest has an egg allergy but that didn't show up for us until he ate it himself.

Do you consume dairy? Because that’s one of the common allergens in babies before you start introducing solids.
It takes about 6-8 weeks to see a difference. However, you sometimes can see a difference within 4-6 weeks depending on how server the allergy is x

My boy reacted to dairy, I cut dairy from my diet and he was like a new baby. Dairy and soy are supposedly the most common allergies, I didn’t cut soy out but have spoken to other breastfeeding mums who had to cut both out. I’d personally try dairy and see x

My little girl had an egg intolerance when I was BF and we knew because she would have very mucusy poos, although no blood. When I cut it out of my diet, her poo changed within a week. So maybe it is something else? Now she’s 9 months and gets hives whenever we have given her egg. We are seeing a private allergy consultant, as NHS wait is a year long.

It takes 6-8 weeks for the gut to heal so expect to wait that long after cutting out the problem food before seeing improvement in symptoms. My boy has CMPA and egg allergy.

Thanks everyone💖 we don’t eat dairy so that’s why the consultant thinks it might be eggs. It’s just confusing that it was getting better… I ate corn the other day so wondering if it could be that too?! I’ll wait 6 weeks to see if it’s still there until I take the next allergen out of my diet. How was weaning with your babies and the allergen? I think he’s now more likely to be allergic to other things? X

are you keeping a food diary? Weaning was a nightmare for us but not because of allergies. There's no evidence to suggest they're more likely to have another food allergy because they already have one x

no but I’m going to now! Oh that’s interesting, the doctor said children with egg allergies are more likely to have other allergies x

definitely worth doing. It's hard because we've found we've had so much conflicting info from different health professionals! So I could be wrong on the likelihood bit but the guidance we were given by our GP on weaning said they're no more likely to have another because they have one. I could be wrong though as I say! X
