My baby girl’s legs are so long and it’s hard just putting her in the rear facing position of her car seat. I read that because she falls in the weight range she could sit front facing now but I am
Just curious has anyone else down the switch or are you going to wait?

Following cuz same! My kiddos feet are constantly kicking the seat, and she seems to hate going in her car seat lately. I’m wondering if that’s why.

I made the switch about 4 months ago as my boy is huge and it just wasn’t fair on him!!!
I bought the biggest safest spaceship like car seat I could find 😆👍

I guess my first question is, what kind of car seat do you have still? Are you still using an infant car seat or have you switched to a different one that is more of "grow with me" type of carseat - like the 3-n-1s or something. We have an extendfit one that goes all the way up to booster, but she is no where near the height of weight of facing forward yet.

I switched mine 🤷🏻♀️. I know some people don’t agree but I did it after she turned 1 and switched to a grow with me car seat

at the end of the day it’s your choice it’s safest to wait till they are 4 no matter what the hieght and weight says although i turned my boy around when he was 2.5 so i could tend to him as well as my baby

I switched her to the Graco Slim Fit 3 in 1 grow with me like a month or so ago.

I suggest checking the angle of the car seat to make sure it's reclined properly. There is a level indicator on the side. If the seat is too far upright, it can cramp the leg area.

Most states require them to be rear facing until they are 2. If you’re not in one of those states. I would wait until they max out the height or weight of your specific seat. Take a look at your manual.
They are much safer rear facing because their spine is better protected from impact. I will be keeping my son rear facing as long as possible.
I would suggest doing some research before switching.

We switched our boy around, his legs were getting crammed and he just wasn’t getting enough air flow. Poor baby was coming out of the truck red faced and sweaty even if we had the AC on the lowest setting.

that’s what I was thinking too. I think it might be too upright for her right now

My son turned 1 in May and just last month we switched him to rear facing. Took me a while to feel comfortable of him being put in that position because he hasn’t reached the required weight and length to be faced forward but he’s growing tall and his legs are crammed up when rear faced.
My husband and I can’t do much but being very careful when we drive, didn’t know what do to or say if we ever ger pulled over for this but my baby is not comfortable so we had to switch. 🤷🏽♀️
Also because our car doesn’t have a backseat vent and he gets so sweaty when no airflow is going his way when being rear faced.

Not switching anytime soon and my baby’s feet touch the back base. The demonstration videos that show what happens in an accident are very convincing why rear is safest.

we have that exact seat, just adjust the recline. Rear facing as long as possible is best practice

We just bought a Graco Extend2Fit Convertible car seat, which keeps them rear-facing (the safest option) until they reach 50 lbs.

He's only , 20 pounds . And probably 30 inches. He will easily make it to the suggested minimum of 4 years old 🥰

legs are bendy! If legs are needing more space , there's the Graco extend2 fit 3 in 1 ...!!! It has an extension part .... ... It's not too late to turn baby back around to rear facing .... Rear facing is so much safer.

Well idk how much thos carseats are but unfortunately not many of us can afford to buy those kind… so we’re working with what we know is best for our child and we are being careful with driving. But we’ll definitely look into that, and yes I’m aware it’s not safe to he faced forward when he hasn’t reached the weight limit, but yes he has definitely reached the height.

Ahh. My understanding with car seats is they max out length or weight. For rear facing it's being less than one inch from the top on the highest setting on a combination seat like this. It's called a convertible seat.
I totally get funds. We got our convertible with a discount.... And with several gift cards saved up. If you buy straight from Graco, a payment plan is something that they offer.

None of mine switched to forward facing until they moved to HBB’s at age 5

Our pediatrician said no forward facing until after 2. He said as long as under height and weight requirement keep rear facing as long as possible. the reason for rear facing even with long legs is that broken legs are an easier fix/healing process than forward facing injuries in a serious crash.
