I am the middle apartment of a three unit apartment building, my landlord lives next to me. One day I get a text at 130pm saying is everything ok I hear a lot of banging ( my 9 year old was excited walking back and forth) I admit yes it was loud I actually had asked him to walk lighter before I saw her text once I replied that she said “ok thanks” implying she was probably gonna ask we quiet down. Yesterday my son and I were doing chalk in the shared driveway out back it literally is the back yard and she texted me again asking “does that chalk all over the driveway wash off with water?” First off what chalk doesn’t but I say yes and she said thanks. Idk am I wrong for allowing my son to play chalk in a place I pay for? Our driveway out back is just a massive square of asphalt we mostly stayed in “our area” I’m just confused like is 1pm in the afternoon a time when families need to be quiet and should I have asked before using chalk? I’ve never dealt with this to be honest and we have workout equipment downstairs including a treadmill and treadmills can sometimes be loud so I’m just wondering if I’ll receive a text from her over every little thing. Overall we are very quiet to be honest but those two instances have me hyper aware of everything now.

Especially at night and early morning because to me that makes sense for “quiet hours” we aren’t typically running around the house like animals but my son does have nerf guns and such that if we do use may be a bit loud for 20 minutes. I just feel bad silencing my child in the middle of the day but if this is an unspoken rule of apartment living someone please enlighten me lol. My landlord is also extremely anxious and told me she’s going through menopause hahaha so idk if she’s prone to panic or freak out more than most may? Again I’m never trying to come off as rude so

I live in an apartment complex (there's 12 apartments in one building).. but our quiet hours are 10pm-7am.. and they mainly ask us to not do dishwasher, or laundry, or pounding nails into wall
I'm unsure about the chalk thing because we don't have a driveway or anything
