How are people stopping breastfeeding their 12 + months old? Having her sign milk and cry is breaking my heart but I’m so ready to stop 😢😅 I offer food, snacks, alternative milk but she still cries for it.

I think just keep going with offering her those and eventually she will get used to the idea. We did that and then when I was down to a bedtime feed and night feed I cut down the time slowly over a couple of weeks (literally timed it) and eventually she wasn't really taking much milk and she became less interested. The first bedtime without feeding her to sleep was nerve wracking but she took to it better than I imagined. They adapt really well to these things but you just have to stick with it (I know it's hard :( )

That’s good to know that it’s worked for you. I’ve just had an entire evening of screaming and two hours in the night screaming last night. Guess just got to carry on like you say and hopefully she starts to get it

Are you dropping one feed at a time? Remember you need to do it slowly foe both her and you (or your boobs will not be happy 😅). Does she feed roughly similar times every day or is it super varied? X

Yeah I have been, I’m now back at work so want to feed her first thing and at bed time but she is screaming to feed at around 6 when she should be eating dinner

Nursery days it’s pretty set but the weekend is super varied

Is there a way you can make her feel connected but not feed her? Our feeds have also been replaced by alot of cuddles. The night wakes have been more challenging, but my husband has helped with the settles. Don't get be wrong it was easier than I imagined but we've still had times where she's upset and I wish I could still feed her but you find other ways to settle them. Good luck! X

Since I've stopped she is regularly sleeping through the night, which is a nice surprise as before she only did that like twice her whole life! I hope you get more sleep too after this tough time x

She is very cuddly so she does get plenty of cuddles. Yeah the night is the issue as well as she will just scream bloody murder. In the day if she wants feeding though she doesn’t want cuddles and will push away. The nights have got too much now I’m back to work, and to be honest they’ve got worse. I did not realise how hard it would be to stop 😅
