My little girls speech was severely delayed she only started her first words around 3 years of age. She just started nursery and on the way home I asked her how her day was and what she's been doing. She didn't answer so I asked if she played at the water table. Her answer "play water". I asked if she made any friends and the reply was "friends"
I never really realised how little she actually talks as I'm always with her and know what she's up to. She can make basic requests like hungry/ thirsty. Asking for certain toys.
Anybody else? How do I get her to actually talk to me? 😭

If she's only just started nursery I guarantee you you will see a big difference in a short period of time. See how she gets on and see what nursery saywith regards to her progress.

That's not unusual, I have to say. My April 21 baby is very articulate but we do not have conversations unless it's about dinosaurs, concrete mixer or minnie mouse (his fave things) my 5.5 isn't better. What did you do at school to today? Dunno, nothing or a shrug is all I get. Based on our class whatsapp all 30 kids in the class seem to be offering those same answers!
That being said, I get the worry over a speech delay. My eldest didn't talk until he was almost I'm reception and it's emotionally destroying at times. I was always told to engage in the here and now - tell me about your dolly etc... it's easier for them to get the concept of right now than earlier. Good luck

We are getting help from the speech therapy for my daughter she goes to nursery twice a week and they recommend that we put her to go to speech therapy to help build confidence we have been once cus the nhs program starts when they turn 3 she will be in full preschool nursery in September so I’m hoping that will help her with speech and forming sentences

My son made huge progress with his speech when he started at nursery.
