my newborn sometimes doesn’t finish his bottle. i know if they don’t finish it then it’s good for only 2 hours. if i refrigerate it quickly after he doesn’t finish it could it last longer than 2 hours refrigerated? or can i put it back into the bottle warmer and have it soak in warm water till he is ready for his next feed? i hate wasting my breast milk. please share any tips on if i can possibly make unfinished milk last longer than 2 hours!

No hun, also it’s actually 2h from making the bottle, once the baby had some milk it needs finishing within the hour

Best thing to do is do smaller servings and then if baby is still hungry heat some more

I don't know if it's the same but I use formula and the reason it shouldn't be used after an hour after they've started drinking it is due to bacteria growing so I wouldn't risk it. Just do smaller feeds maybe?

I think it’s to do with bacteria growth after starting the bottle (warmed or cold) so I don’t think there’s an approved safe way to do it. Splitting into smaller bottles/freezer bags may help the feeling of wasting it?

You can't make it last more than an hour after you've warmed it and given it to him I'm afraid. Best to go with smaller bottles and warm up more if you need to. Freeze the milk in smaller volumes so you waste less too 🥰

It’s good for 2 hours after baby’s lips have touched it. You can’t refrigerate and use it later unfortunately but I do always save the unfinished milk and put it in baths so that it’s not completely wasted 🙂
