Little guy reached birthweight at 9 days old and our pediatrician told us to still wake him to feed every four hours if he hasn’t woken up. Does this include during the day as well or only during the middle of the night? Or should I keep feeding him every three hours during the day and every four hours at night (if he doesn’t wake up on his own, of course)?

I had a late premie (37 weeks) so maybe it’s different but after reaching birth weight and some my pediatrician said every 4 hours at night and still every 2 during the day. Although sometimes she’s hard to wake and we end up doing 3 during the day.

I do every 4 hours after reaching birth weight at night. And during the day it's on demand and if napping I'll wake him between 2-3 hours nothing longer than 3

mine is hard to wake in general. In the hospital they had me feeding her every two to three hour but should fall asleep on my boob. Once we got home I was feeding her when she wakes up but we just had out doctors appointment and were told she dropped 10% her birth wait

They said to wake her up every two to three hours and feed at least 2 oz she should be getting 8 to 12 feedings if I can’t produce enough milk to get her weight up I’ll have to do half breast milk and half formula

I'll also add- Eventually I'll just let him sleep at night whenever my pediatrician gives me the go ahead and he'll wake when he is hungry. But I make small babies all of my kids have been in the 5lb range and I like to make sure they are getting all the calories I can give them.

my lactation specialist suggested I pump. So I put her on the boob for 30 then pump and feed her what I pumped. Usually 2 oz that was to get her to gain. She recommended the lansinoh bottles because they mimic the human nipple better than others.

Our ped told us we can stop waking to feed at night. Personally I try to feed every 2-3 hours during daytime to get calories in so they don't need them at night. He still wakes every 3-4 hours though.

If baby is gaining and healthy, there’s no need to wake at night. They probably would still wake anyway, but in the off chance they give you 4-5hrs, TAKE IT. They’ll hit a sleep regression before you know it 😅
