Sleep

Hi guys my boy is two years old , one day he just started to refuse going down for his naps now some days he doesn’t sleep at all some days he will fall asleep in the sofa around 3.30 pm for like 20 minutes or he falls asleep in the car if going out and about for like 30 minutes . When he doesn’t nap he’s fine he lasts all day and is not upset or anything like that when he does have a little nap he can be awake at night until late and wake up super early . Has anyone else been through this ? And advise on what to do maybe he’s ready not to nap at all ?

Thank you

If he doesn't nap, at least have quiet time.

Yeah I do that to he lays on the sofa for that he gets really really upset if I try to take him down to his bed for a nap

My has refused a day time nap most of the time since maybe 16 months. Eventually we learnt that he just needs quiet time or an earlier bed time tbh. I fear the same will happen with my 2nd as well

Really thank you for the advice I’m finding this transition really tough at the moment not knowing what to do

I know this transition can be hard. Kids naturally work their way out of naps, some sooner than later. We all have different sleep cycles. If he is don’t with naps, he should at least have quiet time and maybe during that time he will sleep for a bit. Try not to stress, add quiet time into your schedule and understand he is getting bigger. Keep bedtime consistent and a routine in place for an hour before lights out. Reach out if you need more help. Everyone in this group gets a free call with me. ❤️

But I am also worried sometimes he can wake up at 6.15 6.30 am and not want to nap and go to bed at 6.30 pm 7.00 then he sleeps for around 11 and half 12 hours at night and people keep telling me that’s not normal there’s something wrong with him 😢 and it’s making me so anxcious but he’s healthy and happy can get cranky xx

Autism

I have been noticing everyone I know that as a boy 2-5 years has been diagnosed with autism. Has anyone else noticed this or maybe I’m just noticing this out of concern for my 10 month old boy.

Swing or bassinet

We've been co-sleeping/bed-sharing with our one month old (5 weeks tomorrow) since she and I came home from the hospital. While I love the cuddles I do want our bed back too. I will add too, that we try to make it as safe as possible and want her in a safe situation. She doesn't like sleeping by herself, however we've been putting her in her swing (pic below) close to daily, since she came home and at first she only liked it for a few minutes, now it could be an hour, before she protests, asleep or awake! She likes the music and rocking motion it seems and seems fascinated by the mobile when she's awake and not sleepy. We can probably get her used to the bassinet in a similar way, but I'm wondering if we should just get two of these? My husband says the music would drive him crazy, lol, but we could just do it with white noise and see if it has the same effect. He's saying it's probably good for her to learn how to sleep in different conditions. I do agree, as our older daughter can't take naps at friends' houses and stuff. Just not sure of the best route here. Anyway tia!

How do you cosleep?

I know all about sleep safe 7, the dangers of cosleeping etc etc, but there seems to be a huge difference between online and people I meet in real life. Most people I know report cosleeping, but online its villainised more.
No judgement here - I'm just genuinely curious what people are actually doing!

Comments if its something different.

Our baby has her own cot. She sleeps well in it until early morning and then only sleeps if shes on/next to me. I'll also admit to having fallen asleep breastfeeding several times (no lectures, she's safe - but other people have said they've done the same).

How often is your baby waking up in the night?

My baby is 5 months old and waking up every 3 hours. Some nights he could do a 4 hour stretch and some he would do just 2. It’s a bit all over the place to be honest. Is it normal for so many wake ups at this age? What is everyone else’s baby doing?
