POV : your 2 yrs old takes a toy from a store without you noticing, you leave, buy him something similar from a different shop which he gives u to open accidentally opening the one he took without u noticing instead of the one you paid for at a different shop.
Should I buy a similar from a different shop and bring it to the shop he got it and explain or ?

It was an accident so I wouldn't stress too much. How expensive was it? If anything, I'd go back to the store and just pay for it
8 quid I think 💠I’m so overthinking it

If your son was older, I'd say to make a point to teach about stealing, etc. But at 2 years old and not noticing until later, it would be hard to actually get the message across. Maybe just start talking when you're at stores about how things there don't belong to you until you pay for them. Like at checkout "okay, time to pay so we can take these things home with us!"
the thing is that I already do that & he knows. To be fair I don’t think he noticed he took it either as he placed it behind him in the pram to play with a basket ball which he gave it back to me when I told him that we need to go check the toys from a different store too

He’s 2 so unlikely that he’ll understand.
But I’d go back and pay for it.
