We have been cosleeping since he was born and he's now 5months. We did this as he refused to sleep in his next 2 me and as an EBF baby it was easiest to feed.
But for the last week he has been waking up every half an hour to feed on me, sometimes I'm sure this is just comfort but I'm waking up each time. Meaning I'm getting maybe a 20min stretch of sleep at a time. I'm exhausted and really struggling in the night and my mood is being hugely affected.
It makes me sad because I loved cosleeping but now I don't at all.
We are weaning him (health visitors advice to do so early) and so ge gets puree or porridge before bed which I thought would help sleep as he would have a fuller tummy but no.
Any advice? I'm absolutely exhausted and touched out and just feel like I'm doing something wrong.
I miss the 2 to 4hr stretches we were getting before :(

I'm sorry I don't have any advice personally but if you have Facebook maybe try joining the group "The Beyond Sleep Training project"
It's run by a group of volunteers all over the world who have a lot of experience in cosleeping etc š worth joining and asking id say

Hey I donāt have much advice but just to say that Iām in the same boat. I cosleep with my LO pretty much all night at the moment. Previously she would settle for a couple of hours in her next to me before I would bring her into bed but now weāre getting maybe an hour and a half tops before I need to bring her to bed but even in bed she isnāt always settled. Iām currently getting 20/30 minute stints of sleep, so totally get how youāre feeling itās just soul destroying. I also feel like a lot of people assume once your baby is this age the really bad nights are starting to become a thing of the past so they stop checking in as much or offering support. Iām definitely finding this stage much harder than newborn. Since my LO was three months sleep has been non existent š«
I didnāt realise how badly broken sleep/ deprivation affects every aspect of your life. I can feel my mood getting very low at times and my tolerance for things that normally wouldnāt bother me is now really low..

Just wanted to leave a comment to say I understand your situation and your not alone ā¤ļø

My little boy went through this a few weeks ago and the best advice I had was that itās just a phase and to lean on people around you to help.
Is there any way you can express and your partner can feed him to give you a night off? (worked wonders for me, felt like a new woman in the morning)
When he naps in the day take it as an opportunity to nap yourself or if you have any family to help, have them take him for a few hours so you can rest.
It wonāt last forever and will get better ā¤ļø

Iām in exactly this position too. I never wanted to Cosleep but itās the only way to survive as we have a toddler too and otherwise Iād be so so exhausted (instead of just so exhausted š) I just came to say the whole thing that people say about them sleeping better with fuller tummies due to starting solids/formula is a myth. Our 1st didnāt start sleeping solidly until 15months, one day itāll happen when theyāre ready. We tried all the things with our 1st, some babies are good sleepers, some are not, those with perfect sleepers are just lucky, itās not down to what theyāre doing differently. Iām more relaxed and accepting of it this time, although exhausted I accept itāll happen when sheās ready. But the current situ of feeding alllllll night is draining me!!! Iām here with you! ā¤ļø

Iāve found these pages helpful at times (mainly reassuring in the fact itāll happen when it happens, youāre not doing anything wrong, all totally developmentally normal)

Oh my goodness, you are not alone in this! This is baby 4 and I have never co slept before until my daughter who is now 5 1/2 months, she refused the next to me from the get go so I had no other option than to allow her to sleep with me otherwise I would literally be sleep deprived and so low in mood which isnāt an option as I have other children to show up for in the daytime. I canāt really help with the long stints of sleep however two weeks ago I came to a point where I could no longer cope with her being in bed with me 24/7 yet I knew she still needed to be next to me so Iāve started laying her in her next to me crib and feeding her from the breast over the crib until she falls to sleep ( itās effort ) but itās really really helped with her getting used to being in her own space and itās given me the little bit of space I need. Sadly she still gets up very regularly but that little bit of progress has shown me that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
