Is Stoke Mandeville ok??

I’m due to give birth at Stoke in Feb, but made the mistake of reading the hospital report as the maternity care is rated as ‘requires improvement’. It’s got me worried and I’m wondering if I can / should switch to another hospital.
Has anyone else switched? Any good / bad experiences at Stoke M or Milton Keynes?

Had a great experience at Stoke Mandeville, couldn’t fault it at all. Had the best midwife with a safe delivery x

I did the exact same thing before I was due to give birth there last year but couldn’t fault them, I had a really good experience even though I had an emergency C-section!

We had a really positive birth experience when I gave birth to my daughter in August 2023. Our midwife was amazing and the birthing room we were in had the pool and everything else I needed 🙂

I gave birth there 11 weeks ago and couldn’t fault it, I had to have an emergency forceps delivery and the midwives and all the other professionals were incredibly kind and looked after us. X

Have had 2 births there 2023 and 2024 / had a great experience they were extremely reassuring and made sure I was comfortable at all times couldn’t fault them xx

Both my children born there 2019 and 2023. Couldnt of asked for better care. Would highly recommend. The midwifes are wonderful and my surgeon was a super star.

Same, I had 2 there and found Stoke overall great. I had my first in Watford instead (lived there at the time) and found that less good by comparison, both facilities and processes. Hope that helps.

Thanks everyone, that’s so great to hear XX

Myself & a friend have transferred there from Luton, 2 close friends had very good experiences last year at Stoke which swayed the decision for us

Period like cramps

Hi
I’m currently 33 weeks pregnant and I keep getting period like cramps I thought these were Brixton hicks but I’ve heard they only last 30 seconds ish as this can go on for a good time frame then go away and come back, they aren’t bad enough where I can’t do basic things they just feel like I’m about to get my period I’m jus wondering how normal this is? Baby is still very actively kicking xx

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

C section or natural?

I am a control freak and thinking c section is the least stressful route for me and baby… less complications during labour etc. whilst acknowledging recovering can be hard.
If it could be guaranteed no tearing or complications then I would opt for natural and kind of want to experience the feeling.
Then again could plan and go either way 😂 arghh!
Anyone else in this predicament?

Midwife check

Can someone remind me when the midwife visits you at home? Is it the day after you’re discharged? And is that the same on the weekend or do they not visit then? Thanks!
