Growth scans due to fundal height ( large)
Has any one had to have a next day growth scan following a fundal height measurement with the midwife ?
I’m currently measuring 35cms when it should be between 29&32cm based on how far gone I am.
This is my 2nd baby and although I had previous growth scans due to a suspect large baby , they had always been appointments through the post which wasn’t required so urgently.
My apppointments tomorrow ( was called by the hospital within 2 hours of finishing my midwife appointment ) , but just panicking slightly so would like some possible insights if anyone has been in this situation before.

Yes, I had this at 31 weeks. Also second baby but bump much bigger this time around! Was given a growth scan for two days after the fundal height measurement was taken. All was fine and baby was measuring just over the 75th centile and predicted to be the same birth weight as my 1st (8lb 11oz) despite the fact that my bump is much bigger (think it’s natural to be bigger on your second baby) x
Hello, I had a growth scan ordered at 38 weeks from my midwife. It was due to me being on the smaller side (opposite of you). Once the results came in, my midwife urgently told me to get induced the next day. Baby was not growing according to plan and was diagnosed with intrauterine growth restriction with baby’s abdomen that was predicted to be 4 weeks behind growth schedule. I was induced the next day and failed to progress after 40 hours of labor so they decided on c section. Baby came out super healthy and no one even brought up anything about his abdomen. He is now 6 weeks and has no problems.
The radiologist cannot tell you if something is wrong. Once you get your scan, if the midwife gets the report, she will call you to let you know the results.
Hope that helps! All these “standard” measurements are just the “average”. I am 5 foot petite woman and I still believe that my baby was healthy and didn’t need to be induced. My “average” is smaller than most people.
ahh I hope this is the same case as me , I’m 31 weeks almost so fingers crossed just where it’s a second pregnancy. I only gave birth in Jan so am having them quite close together. Has baby number 2 come yet ?? My LB was 8lb 12 and soo hoping this one comes out smaller 😂😂 x
😢 this sounds like soo much stress, I can’t even imagine what it was like to be told you needed a next day induction.
Glad baby’s doing well though , so frustrating with the inductions I had one my last pregnancy and am sure I actually didn’t need it as he wasn’t huge x
No, Baby #2 has not been born yet (I’m currently 37.5 weeks) so yet to see if the growth scan is accurate x
