When will you/ did you stop breastfeeding šŸ¤±šŸ¼

Hi! My daughter is 17 months and I absolutely love our breastfeeding journey together, I want to really only stop when my daughter is ready but I also don’t want to be feeding her when she starts school as there’s such a stigma around it! When did you or plan to stop breastfeeding your little ones please and how did it happen? Also, can you say whether they had a dummy or not as so far I’ve noticed a pattern of them stopping earlier when they had a dummy! Thanks so much in advance!!

I don’t have a fixed idea of when I’ll stop, I think eventually it will stop working for one or both of us. There’s a long time between 17 months and starting school, so I wouldn’t be worrying yet! Just go with the flow and see how you get on.

No dummy here either.

I planned to stop bf when my daughter turned one as I didn’t want her bf anymore when she started nursery. She stopped at 11 months as I was pregnant and I think at that point my milk was going. I had already cut her down to two feeds a day though and even then it was more for comfort. She’s never taken a dummy. It happened quite easy for us but one night my daughter was struggling to latch because she had a cold and kept coming off and going back on and it was sore especially because I was pregnant, so I just stopped there and then. She’s never gone for my boob since, even when I’ve got them out to feed her brother who is 5 months now 😊 however she loves cows milk and loves her food, has slept through since around 7 months, and puts herself to sleep on a night so I do think I am quite lucky that it was so easy

2 years 4 months. No dummy ever.
Loved it so much but she was so ready. It wasn’t for milk it was just for comfort and she used to wake up still in the night just for the comfort.
As soon as I stopped she slept through the night šŸ‘šŸ»
As she was older, she had some understanding and honestly she wasn’t even that bothered. I let her cuddle me and still have skin contact but kept my boobs in bra. After 1 day she didn’t even ask for it!!

I am still BF my 2 years and 7 months old.

I breastfed heavily the first 18 months of his life (day and night on demand for nutrition for comfort for anything)

Then I cut the night feeds and since he turned 2 it’s just before he naps after lunch.

I’ll carry on for as long as we both enjoy it.

He never took a dummy, nor a bottle.
The breast is all he has ever known.

If I make it to three years I’ll be extremely happy. I am so proud of our journey and bf is the most beautiful yet one of the hardest things I have ever done.

I stopped at 10 months. My kids never used a dummy. They weren’t interested. I stopped slowly by skipping a session, wait a few days, and skip another session.

My daughter self weaned at 2 years and about 3 months. You've got ages before school šŸ™‚

We stopped our journey around 18/19 months. My son weaned himself off really. I stopped offering, gave him only when he asked. So he reduced himself to morning and night. Then just night. Then stopped all together. He had a dummy for the first 5 months x

I am 10 months in and there have been no signs of stopping from my son. i dont know when i will stop! Whenever it doesnt work for us anymore. As others have said you have ages before school! My little one uses a dummy to sleep but not in the day. My partner is often away over night and i have to do long car trips sometimes so i couldnt have survived without one!

When do things get easier?

As we entered the 9-12 month stage, my son started crawling and pulling himself up. He also became more clingy and does not play alone, still doesnt sleep through the night, and this week has been sick (so EVERYTHING amplified). I am tired and overwhelmed. Please lie and tell me things get better. 🄺

Colostrum storing?

Has anyone successfully extracted colostrum before the baby’s born? Apparently it gets produced from 16w pregnant and you can start storing it in the freezer but I’m 34w looking at my nipples and the syringes on amazon wondering how it works?? Like what did you use and did it hurt? 🄲

4 month bed time

What time do you put your babies to bed?
What time do you start your 'routine?'
My LO currently goes to bed around 10.30pm, and I know i need to start bringing it forward. Everytime ive tried, it takes longer for my LO to settle.
We are exclusively breastfeeding. Any advice Mamas?

Combi feeding advice

Has anyone gone from EBF to combi feeding? Currently do one bottle of EBM per night and they one half formula half breast milk mixed in the day. The other times she still feeds on me. Ideally I want to feed all day via bottle and all night with breast. She’s 7 weeks and takes a bottle well, how long should I leave it before adding another bottle to her daily routine?

Self settling

Any tips or advice of how to teach 6.5month old to self settle? I’m up multiple times in the night to cuddle her back to sleep and put the dummy in. I understand she will wake up and want a cuddle etc but any tips on self settling would be appreciated 🄰
