Can’t afford owlet sock - alternatives?

I really feel like I would relax better if I had some kind of monitor on my baby at night but I simply cannot afford the owlet socks! I was thinking maybe a monitor mat? Or has anyone got any better suggestions please? UK based.

So many people sell the owlet sock on Facebook marketplace for cheap! At least in my area… worth checking it out

I have been keeping an eye out market place but people still want over £200 or more for them even second hand! 😔

I used a monitor that clips onto my daughters nappy and if detected her stopping breathing the alarm would sound. Can't remember the name snuza something 🙈

I honestly think tech like this would make you worry more!!

Baby will be in your room not out of your sight for the first 6mths. A good monitor and popping in before bed to check on baby will be fine!!!

Snuza Hero 💙💛

We have tapo, they cost fraction od the price, I think £20 or £30 and it works great! The day and night vision is very clear, so it's the sound. There is no need to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a viral brand.
You download their app through which you check on you little one. You can also check what is happening at home if you away and leave little one with anyone as long as you have the Internet connection.

does this have breathing sensor
Function or heart rate monitoring though ?

Avatar

No, it doesn't if this is what you are after. But it does have a movind sensor, but I wouldn't recommend using it because everytime the little one moves the camera makes noise

I thought about that when I was pregnant, really wanted owlet and decided I wasn’t gonna spend all that money. I got the snuza hero from vinted and used it twice then resold it on vinted, so extremely happy I didn’t spend a fortune on such products 😂

My doctor said no to using the owlet

Don’t recommend attaching an electrical device on a baby all night. Get a baby monitor. I’ve had one without WiFi and one with WiFi, I will not get the one with WiFi anymore. I feel like it can be hacked and I feel safer with the one that doesn’t connect to WiFi.

We're trying out the Eufy sock right now it's less than half the price of the Owlet. I did not like the Sense u monitor it was not accurate at all. Maybe black Friday deals will come up for you.

Snuzza hero! 🩷🩵. It’s a dream. Literally attach to the nappy and you’re good to go!

Avatar

Honestly these can be so inaccurate that a+e staff hate them . They have their place but don't get caught up in needing one

Avatar

I was the same! But then I saw a horror story on here about the sock setting on fire so we never used ours again 😫

Honestly I think these things just fuel anxiety more, so I'd avoid personally!

Sleep help

How do you cope? My little girl will not be put down anymore. She will -scream- the entire way through the night if I am not stood rocking her or feeding her. The second I try and put her down she wakes up and will not stop screeching until she’s picked up again. I have had flu after flu this winter and i was hospitalised earlier this week because my body cant cope with having no rest and being unable to get better. Im so done with this I need sleep. I never wanted to do the cry it out method but even when I’ve had to because I literally didnt have the physical strength to pick her up, she would never stop crying. I tried making the bed warm, laying her on my t-shirt, white noise, lullabies, silence, pitch black then low lights etc etc, I am getting no sleep and its killing me.

Worst part is I have a husband but he has no regard for any of it. He’s never once helped me put her down or woken up to soothe her not a single time and shes almost 10 months. He knows how ill I am and how much I need rest. His excuse is that he goes to work. I was supposed to return to work a few weeks ago and I did go a couple days but then I have been put on bed rest by the doctors and not worked since because I physically can’t. I am so sick of being ill and he’s completely neglecting me and our daughter. How does anyone do this.

Sorry needed that rant

Travel cot - take own or not?

Would you buy a travel cot when going away for the weekend or would you use the hotels? Premier inn to be exact

How many hours sleep does your baby get in the day? (Comments) and when is bedtime?

My little guy only gets a total of 10 hours sleep daily at 8 months. He’s clearly miserable as he’s tired all the time but waking every 2 hours still at night.

Haven holiday

Looking at booking a short stay at Haven and would like to hear from mums who’ve been with 2 under 3. Where did your children sleep? My 3 year old could manage a bed in a lodge but my youngest will be 17 months and in a cot. The lodges don’t look big enough for a travel cot. Where did you put yours?

Thanks!
