The recommendation from the cdc is to wait 2-3 hours per drink. But I’ve seen a lot of doctors talk about how the amount of alcohol that is transferred into milk is comparable to the amount of alcohol in orange juice, and I’ve heard over and over “if you can find your baby, you can feed your baby.” I suggest that you do your own research and make your judgment. If you want to go by the cdc recommendation then make sure you have a plan to pump and dump so you don’t get engorged. There’s no reason to dump if you only have one drink and wait at least 2 hours!

You can order test strips to check if the milk is safe for baby.

If you’re worried, wait 2-3 hours between each feed. But the amount of alcohol that gets into the milk is so so little, one or two drinks on occasion will not affect baby or milk. There’s plenty of info online for you to make your decision. Enjoy your drink! X

I heard the test strips are a waste of money and mean nothing…I breast-feed and drink wine occasionally. I don’t have more than two glasses of wine and I do make sure to wait a little bit after drinking. Also pump or breast-feed right before you start drinking. I would say if you get anything more than buzzed, I would pump and save it for milk bath.

you can drink but i think shots may be too much compared to a small glass of wine etc. if you pump, i’d just pump enough for the evening to give baby a bottle with and then just dump whatever you’ve pumped whilst you’re drinking. i EBF and have a white wine spritza often but we’re talking 1/4 wine, 3/4 lemonade x
