Cot bed recommendations

We're struggling to find a cot bed with good reviews - there's always someone saying it's flimsy or the paint chips off! So looking for something tried and tested that will hopefully last us a good few years, with good quality wood and under £250.

Also, we're based in Edinburgh and apart from Mamas & Papas and Smyths we have no idea where we can actually go to have a look ourselves, so open to suggestions!

See if anybody is shifting a mamas & papas one on Facebook marketplace as they really are very sturdy (I was always in our daughters). You’d need a new mattress either way. We have the Harwell and it’s being used now with the side off as a toddler bed

We got ours from online4baby.com, really happy with it!

We have an ikea cot for our little boy and we’re just moving him to a floor bed so many that could be an option? Our little boy jumps in his cot and everything and it’s not flimsy he’s also bit the sides while teething and no paint has chipped off

Should have said I've been banned from buying anything for the baby from Ikea even though we got all our furniture there lol

Thanks for the recommendations so far 😊

With my son i used ikea’s cheapest cot bed for a year, than moved him to floor bed. worked great, will do the same for baby number 2

My friend recommended Mokee second hand on FB marketplace if you can find it. That’s what we’ll be looking for! If it looks decent just needs a clean, and a new mattress that fits snugly.

We have a Snuzkot Skandi from our first born and its lasted him 2.5 years. He regularly jumps up and down on it 🫣 delivered with a mattress it was £299

I had the Tutti Bambini Modena Cot Bed for my first. We used mostly used it when she was a bit older with one of the sides off. It even survived my husband lying in it with her to resettle her 😂

We have the basic IKEA one and it's amazing (Gulliver) and we got it for £90..I remember spending ages trying to find one too and ended up just getting the IKEA one. It's sturdy, does the job and easy to install. My toddler is 16 months and still sleeping with it as a cot. It transitions to a toddler bed too

I got mine for £30 off facebook marketplace and I love it

Our boys are 4 in March and still in their ikea beds, convert from cot to toddler bed. We got a sort of taupe coloured one but there’s other colours. Been really sturdy and no chips at all, will be using for our next baby due in March and we’re now moving our boys into single beds

lol why?

apparently the quality is not good enough. Which is funny because our bed is from Ikea and so far it hasn't collapsed 🙄

I think most places have some items that aren’t the best and some that are pretty reliable no matter where you shop, to be fair there’s plenty recommendations/reviews you can show your partner here haha 😂

Leaky nappy help

What nappies are you using to stop leaks?? We use pampers ultra dry size 5, and for the past few nights he has lashed through and we’ve had to completely change him during the night. Last night he leashed through twice!! He sleeps on his front and stays leaks through at the top of his leg where the tabs connect. Didn’t know whether to size up, he has a bit of a belly on him but he’s smack in middle of weight guidance so shouldn’t need too

New born

Finally had my baby girl via C-section on the 18th, everything has been so far. But I’ve noticed she’s very fussy and cries a lot. I’ve been trying to exclusively breastfeed. The lactation consultant at the hospital said I did look like I’m making enough milk for her. She was latching on good at the hospital and now here at home, she doesn’t seem to want to latch at all. She’s been crying a lot and very fussy. I’m just wondering is she’s colic or like maybe she just doesn’t want the breast anymore?

5.30am wakeups 😫😴

My 15 week old has started waking up about 5.30am and is really hard to settle back down - it’s like he thinks it’s time to wake up for the day. He used to go to bed at 9pm and was up at 8am but now he goes to bed between 7.30-8pm as he’s knackered by then but waking up at 5.30am😴. Any advice to get him to sleep a little longer in the morning?! Even an extra hour would be lovely 🤣
