It’s sending me insane! Every bedtime I get her sleepy, reading stories and singing songs and then it starts. She’s on the verge of sleep but manages to rub her eyes so much that she wakes herself up and cries blue murder. It doesn’t help that I’m putting her to bed alone as my partner works late- it’s difficult to stop her with both hands at once without literally pinning her down, which obviously also makes her cry.

My LO also does this and knocks her dummy out & then cries too. I haven’t found a fix & not advice but just to say I’m in solidarity with you on how tough it is when you ge them to sleep and then they wake themselves! Xx

There isn’t really much you can do to stop it. Maybe do bed time a little earlier so she doesn’t get to that point of tiredness but it is just a temporary phase and will pass

I give my baby a muslin, and she clenches it sometimes moves it over her face.

Often eye rubbing is a later sign of being tired, is it possible she's overtired? Perhaps try a slightly earlier bedtime, or a little nap a couple of hours before bed to avoid overtiredness? Might not be it, but maybe worth a try!

I didn’t think her naps could go any closer to bedtime, or that bedtime could get any earlier. But I just tried having her last nap from 5pm till 6pm and then putting her down at 6.30 and the eye rubbing was much reduced! 😍

ah amazing! Well done you, sounds like a win! 🙌
