VW Sharan and isofix base for newborn car seat

I'm hoping its ok so post this here and technically not about the car seat itself but more the positioning and base issue. We are expecting our second baby and we have a different car, a VW Sharan, from when we had our first. We went car seat shopping at the weekend to get a new seat and base and they said the baby would have to go in the middle as our model has storage compartments in the floor so we can't put the isofix base leg on top of it. They suggested we take the lid off and then it should be fine. I've been looking into who I can contact about whether this is ok but struggling so thought I would see if anyone on here has any experience with this issue? If we don't do that then she'll have to go either in the rear seats in the boot which I don't like the idea of as she'll be so far away and in case of being rear ended, or in the middle, which I will do if it's the safest option but it will kill my back as it's a big car and I'm quite small 😂 Any advice appreciated. TIA x

Check the vehicle manual. It will tell you what you can do. Depending on year it’s either you can put on top, extend leg to bottom of storage box or use a filler in storage then can put leg on top.

Get the re inforced polystyrene for the storage box and it’ll be fine. I don’t even think you can put rear facing seats in the boot can you?xx

@Emily oh I didn't know about filler boxes! I'll have a look. Thank you!

@Kiera thank you! I didn't think so but the fitting manual said its fine which I thought was strange. And I wouldn't feel comfortable with it incase I had to get her out quickly so would have to be the middle seat if we can't sort out the compartment issue but I think the filler is a good shout
