Hi mamas, I’m back with another question.
What are your preferred recipes / methods for dyeing cooked pasta?
I follow some instructions I found online which said to boil in plain water, drain, add food colouring and squish around in a zip lock bag to cover, then rinse under cold water in a colander.
This method didn’t work well for me. The pasta felt sticky and the colour looked uneven. I added a small cup of water which removed the stickiness but meant it was a bit sloppy and cold.
I left the pasta to cool after draining. Is this where I went wrong - should I have left it to cool in the water instead, THEN drained? I used gel food colouring as find this best for rainbow rice. Would liquid or paint have been better?
Appreciate any tips or methods that work well for you 🙏🏻 my little boy is just starting to embrace sloppier, wet, squishy textures after shying away from this when he was younger, so it’s something I really want to encourage. Thank you!

Hey! I’ve never actually tried to colour cooked pasta, only dry but if I ever did I think I’d be tempted to cook the pasta and then let it sit in a bowl or bag of the food dye for a while to let it soak in and then rinse off. The pasta might need a bit of time to soak in the colour 🤔 I could be completely wrong!
I might try some cooked pasta soon! xx
