Hi guys! I'm currently pregnant with my second baby and never had a pelvic prolapse up until a few days ago when I noticed it. Went in to get it checked only to find out it's quite severe and now has a pessary in place.
I'm quite worried as I wasn't given a valid explanation as to why or what is causing it, what possible issues I may have delivering my baby etc. has anyone had anything similar??

The doctors do a horrible job explaining/ not explaining any of this. The last two weeks before giving birth constantly felt like there was a tampon in between my legs. I told my OB and they just brushed it off. After birth, I suffered prolapse. I’m six months postpartum and it’s just starting to feel a little better.
Some causes are older, maternal age, which could mean there’s less estrogen and strength in the pelvic floor , large baby, but besides that there’s really no one specific cause.

I got one by age 30 from being pregnant, they said. My second child was 9 pounds, and I was quite small at that time. I've gone on to have 3 more children with the prolapse. My best advice is to do exercises to specifically strengthen your pelvic floor muscles. It has helped me a bunch bc I'm not ready to have surgery yet. How is it with the pecisary? Did it hurt? I was told I could get one, but it's not a permanent solution. Good luck with your pregnancy! Congrats!
